I couldn't find a topic on this game, and I went back to over a year ago, so if there IS one it's too old.

I like to play the game just for fun, it reminds me of Yahtzee, so for all you "old timers" out there who didn't grow up with computer games, you might understand that.

You can't earn many points for this game, it's just fun.

So, a few minutes ago I played what I consider a "perfect" game for the first time, ever. What is a perfect game (in MY opinion only)? It's a game where I don't have to put a zero into ANY slot AND where I get the bonus points on the left side. So that means that I got a minimum of 21 points (which gave me the 12 bonus points) AND I was able to complete EVERY other part of the game, including the unified matter--which is a bit like getting a Yahtzee (all dice are the same number, or in this case they're all the same color).

So, that was fun. I've NEVER played a game where I was able to fill in all the scores. I usually have to put a zero in once or twice. This was FUN! I got the unified matter on my first turn and I got the spectrum and the rainbow soon after. It's all pretty much a game of luck.

The only skill is in making a decision to go one way or the other after the first roll, which is still more luck than anything else.

But if I'm going to continue to compare it to Yahtzee, I have to say that it says (right on the box) that Yahtzee is a game of skill and chance. So when I was a kid, a million years ago, my mom taught me some strategy in Yahtzee. I think using strategy is what gives the game a bit of skill, but overall it's mostly chance.

And, just by chance today I got a score of 1296 because I didn't have to zero anything. I can't even express how much I don't need those points, but I WILL say once again:

I think this is a FUN game!! I invite others to post their experiences with playing dark matter dice. I wonder if there are others out there who truly enjoy this game, just for fun! Well I know there are from the high score table. :)

OK well that was fun, and I needed something to cheer me up.

DMD is probably my favourite game on Subeta in terms of how much I enjoy it (Caliph's Tomb is overall a little better because you make hella money from it). But I'm way stricter with my final scores than because I only send it if I get a perfect game or perfect-minus-Unified-Matter, lol.

I used to play it a lot when I first joined. LOL certainly not because the sP, but because I enjoyed it.

My main strategy was to try to get spectrum on the first round. If I got it I continued the game, if not I restarted. You could only play once every six hours, so it is worth it to try to get a good start on the game even if you had to restart a few times. After that, the main thing I did was, when I had equivalent choices, I would pick choices that had multiple options. EX if I have 2 blue, 2 red and something else, then I would choose to save the blue or red based on if I needed warm or cool colours as well as still needing to fill in the blue or red dice.

After that it was all math - I really hated missing the 21 pt bonus, so I would keep track of what I needed to get it. Sometimes putting a 0 in something on the right column so I wouldn't make it mathematically impossible to earn my 21 pts.

Hey I'm glad that you both posted on my topic. I checked back a few times and nobody had posted so I didn't even look after that. I don't know why I didn't come back in a day or two, basic depression, I guess.

I'm especially GLAD that you both posted because you're talking about restarting the game and I actually did NOT think that the feature worked. I thought that I tried that once or twice, and even though I hit restart (before sending my score) it told me I had to wait another 6 hours to play. That was over a year ago, and maybe there was a glitch. Now that I know I can restart I'll be a LOT more of a perfectionist with this game. :)

Thank you both for adding your posts!!! I just got a score of 1188 (SP) with a game that had a unified matter and just about everything "perfect" but I DID have to put a zero in one of the spots on the right side. The unified matter came at the very end and was a complete shock. The roll started with 2 yellow and I really didn't think I had a chance, but after the third roll there it was!! :) I think I actually reacted with a big shocked look at my screen, lol!!

This game has just become WAY more interesting, now that I know that I actually CAN start over!! :)

Also: I play Caliph's pretty much religiously every day and only send the scores for perfect games. I can usually whip through those fairly fast. It IS really nice to get an easy 200K every day!

...and I understand what you're talking about with your strategy. It's an interesting idea to work at getting the spectrum on the first round. But I'm guessing that if your first roll has 3 or 4 of the same color you would go with that. I usually reserve the rainbow and spectrum til the dice just fall that way. When they are all different colors (or almost, with only one or NO duplicates) I go for the spectrum or rainbow. I love it when I have neither filled in and I'm not saving the purple (cause I'm trying for the easier of the two) but I end up getting all 6 colors anyway.

Well, this was fun. :)

EDIT: I just realized that DID ping me from this forum, but I did NOT get a notification. I've been having a lot of problems with the site (for about 2 months now) and I have a ticket going that has been a long discussion with all my issues (some of which have to do with event notifications!) It bugs me that I didn't even KNOW that anyone had pinged me from here!! I'll have to add that to my report next time I make an entry on that ongoing ticket.

Just a note, didn't ping you (which is why you didn't get a notification). They used the

This just puts the user icon in front of your name and lets people get the hover. It doesn't ping you. So you probably shouldn't add it to your ticket as an example of a missed ping. But I feel for you, I've had problems with missed pings as well.

Thanks so much for letting me know about that. I had NO clue. There are MANY technical/computer things about which I'm clueless. I'll have to add a PS to my latest ticket entry (I already wrote it). Right now I need to eat, just made a bit of dinner. I hope you have a good evening (or day, if you're in a different time zone, you'd think I would remember, since we've talked, but I don't remember anything).

Also thanks for the sympathy about the missing pings! :)

Editing on Sunday 1/18: I just got another nearly perfect game with a score (sP that is) of 1248. I got another unified matter on the first turn and only had to "zero" one part. If I have that good of a game I won't start over. I was near the end when I had to put a zero in one of the 5 point spots. I got unified, spectrum and rainbow on the first 3 turns. That's almost magic. :)
