I have an issue. Can't see myself doing commissions until I figure out what I'm doing?? Like with how my line art and coloring is, I don't see it being art that can be sold well... Or it's limited, since I intentionally flat color, color out of line, have sloppy lines, etc. and if there's shading, only a bit. (I'm still experimenting with how I want to do it.) If anyone can help me out with suggestions or anything, I'd be happy...

Welcome back! at the risk of sounding cheesy, I say just do whatever makes you happy with your art. Don't force yourself to draw in a certain style, and if opening an art shop again sounds too stressful, sticking to experimental/grab bags/pay-what-you-want-when-the-art-is-finished shops could work?

I'll be back with refs ;o; I have somebody I would like drawn, but I don't have anything real refs yet. Do you have some refs of your own for a possible trade? :'D I've been at a loss for what to draw myself, so even if you end up not drawing anything back, it's cool.

Hey, thanks. I kinda want to know, what are grab bags exactly? o: I think I considered "pay what you want" even just asking for wishlist items, maybe for full body stuff ahh idk. I do want to prove good options. Working on how I can make backgrounds an option too. mmm

Also yeah omg at the moment I just kinda want people to draw my HA (which is actually an official character, but I want to see him in these clothes) if you're interested... His hair is different tho (he's in the 2nd picture I posted in recent draws). Sideburns are one of the keys to his charm ok

Hello! So glad to see you still drawing because your art is wonderful. I will sincerely say I have exactly one sketch from you that I adore and I find the color in your art really inspiring. It makes me take a step back and want to throw paint balloons at my monitor because I should personally work on color more. (I don't actually do the paint balloon thing though...my major requires a computer and it'd be like cutting off my own legs.)

I agree with light's first paragraph 100%. Art should be enjoyable, so don't force yourself to fit a style or do something unless you're having fun taking on the challenge. (I get moody and can't draw hardly at all these days because of a combination of school overload, just not having the good vibes/emotions, and things not turning out after hundreds of ctrl+z presses and redraws.)

If you are thinking about starting up a shop pay-what-you-want-when-art-is-finished shops are great. I have a lot of the same struggles with opening up shops. I don't have much time to draw that when I do it's a ton of experimentation, I lack solid examples, I never know what to charge, and I wonder if people will actually pay for something so stylistically haphazard(Note: My art is stylistically haphazard, not yours. Just to be clear. c: ). Believe it or not the shop types[?] light suggested produce some pretty amazing results, at least they have for me. I also tend to only open 1-2 commission slots at a time when I make any shop because my life can be one boring evening to two weeks of "it's go time DX" overnight. Limited slots really saves on the stress because then usually if you're polite and you haven't been paid yet and haven't started yet most people are pretty understanding of real life.

With that said I wish I could offer you something to draw but I don't have many human references. (Drawing people has been hit or miss for as long as I've been drawing.) So I only really have quads/creatures of that kind and my references of them are a bit outdated too. >> If you have anything you want though that's in the animal/mythical creature realm hit me up. I'm pretty busy for the next 5 days but when I do find time to draw I end up with more made up critters than I should plausibly ever save in my art folder. It would be nice to draw something for someone else every so often. c:

Ahhh, thank you very much!;; I like to think colors are my strong point, so if I had anything positive to say about my art. It'd be that, haha. Yeah, I think I might try that kind of shop... Things I do aren't too consistent, especially time! Like I couldn't factor time into a price because I get distracted pretty easily. I think that's what makes me soooo slow... but I kinda need stuff going on in the background or I wouldn't be working at all. (like music, videos, game streams etc) 2 slots sound good too. I can only ask for people's patience and understanding because I'm basically a turtle at this point omg

ALSO WOW I... I THOUGHT I SAID I'M UP FOR ANYTHING I keep getting humanoids as requests and I don't mean to complain (because I am still interested in drawing some of them!) but I'd like for some chances to draw other things y'know haha! I GUESS I BETTER MAKE A BOLD EDIT...

No problem. Your colors are amazing but you definitely have a style at times (I shy away from saying all the time because some people are sometimes trying to develop a completely different style and I don't want to offend. x-x;; ) Consistency is nice but inconsistency is too. I find I grow the most when my art is inconsistent because I actually threw some colors around I don't normally use or tried a different body type. Sometimes I'm just conceptually dead inside and all I can do is scribble! (My scribbles are some of my favorites though since they have a lot of comedy to them.)

And I did see that. I read, but I draw such weird stuff/creatures I'm always paranoid it's too hard or strange or obnoxious or whispers poorly executed. x-x;; I get pretty self conscious about my art or I worry people just prefer people over quads (just like I have a preference for quads over humans). I will throw a few at you. Probably things I'm more proud of that actually are accurate references.

Very true. Heck, I don't think I'll ever be truly consistent and I might have to accept that. I'm not shifting skills SO suddenly and my changes are fairly subtle, anyway (I hope) I really have to get a grip and not fall into art depression so much, though.

Man I only recently got a charahub and I have charas written up but not made public because there are no references and it's just aaggh //hides everything until it feels alright to show

I don't think consistency is going to happen for me any time soon either. Maybe we can like starting a boat club or something. I change pretty drastically from picture to picture but that's more because I suddenly get some "brilliant" idea I'm going to digitally paint and it rarely turns out. My art folder is a half finished sketch graveyard. ^^;; Art depression man it's real and it's a huge pain. I'm lucky in the sense I'm usually too busy or stressed to be sad but then it becomes an evil snake of things I'm upset about followed up with a sad punchline when I get through it all. Art is a great vent though if I'm in the mood for it.

Character building wise I like to pick a setting/environment. Pick an animal, think about how it would survive given that environment, pick a few other animals that seem to fit the attributes and then mush it all together to see what turns out. It's now I thought up some giraffe like deer with bark fur, some flint scaled snakes with molten cores that constantly move to stay warm, and some boar-like buggers with thick fur and bear like qualities. All of those were based in a perpetually snowy climate that a friend wanted to populate with wildlife. >> I roleplay when I have time too though so imagery is probably my favorite part of it all. c:

My subeta pets are pretty lacking but I'm not all that enthusiastic to flesh them out. Probably because a lot of their stories are stuck in my head and I have a horrible lazy streak when it comes to drawing or writing all of that information out into a physical form. Hopefully you have more luck.

And no problem. Many people I know don't use skype I just offer it because I pop into subeta with some frequency but not nearly as much as skype. I get the business computer thing though. My laptop I've geared for business because I know it'll die early if I game on it. Only it's new enough I still have quite a bit of space on it. Sorry to hear about the 6gigs. x-x

My charahub is pretty pathetic. Not enough references and some of my characters are old/kinda cliche but they're the only ones complete enough to actually write up. ^^;; Anyway I have no idea how far this is considered straying from board purposes so if you want to chat more drop me a comment or mail. So the board seems more open for others rather than a dialogue. I enjoy chatting a bit too much sorry to drag this on. I'm sure you probably don't mind as much I just am not sure about mods and such. spazz highfive ftw Yeah. o/

This is Kittea (ugh sorry this is the only reference I had I'm too lazy to make a ref sheet for her. I told you I suck). So the run down is she is really childish and sweet and innocent and loves tea and tea parties and stuffies and all that cute stuff. Literally think the cutest child ever, but not annoying.
