I have bought Alpha Sapphire and almost done with the main plot. after that i was going to complete the pokedex. but there are some pokemon (legendaries sets) you can only get one or the other depending on game, and some can only be obtained when you have BOTH (i.e. for garitina, you need palkia from OR and dialga from AS in your team to get). so i was wondering, is the game differences worth buying the other game (for me AS). Thanks for any advice!

For me it's not worth it, because I prefer trading for the Pokemon in other games. I usually go into the Global Trade Station, put in an unavailable in Hoenn/Kalos, high level, or hard to get Pokemon (ex: Aegislash, Magmortar, Porygon 2) and ask for a legendary in return. Most of the time it works :) Lately I've been breeding then trading off Tynamo for legendaries, or one of it's evolutions if I'm having trouble. If you don't have any rare-ish Pokemon to breed, I can totally give you a Tynamo if you want because I have a bunch.

I'm also super cheap though, so it might be worth the extra money to other people since it's more convenient to not have to trade a ton.

I'm pretty cheap and I'd probably just stick to one version. I usually have friends that I trade with for pokemon and dex entries I need! Like Angst said, the Global Trade Station works pretty well. I have some pokemon as well if you want any for trades, I've been breeding a lot..

If you hoard a bunch of pokemon like I do, maybe it could be something extra to think about when deciding to get the other version or not, since you'd be getting more PC space and don't have to worry about the Pokemon Bank.

i'm cheap too, but i'd totally get OR if it's worth another 40 bucks. i breed pokemon, but at the moment, i'm breeding: charmanders, mudkips, chespins, beldums, and fennekins just for fun (though i don't know if any are rare, i haven't got this deep into a game before)

like i said, i'm also cheap. and with the Global Trade Station or anything internet related with AS, the internet is a bit...finicky (though i can go to my local library). also i hoard a bunch of pokemon too (lots still need leveling so i can get their pokedex entries), so it would be useful getting that extra PC space.

Well, my personal opinion is "YES" because I've just recently began collecting Pokémon games for DS. (Versions, not the games like Pokémon Conquest and so on.)

I always end up getting more than one copy of each gen game, but in my case it's because I want to play with different teams and I'm not willing to restart my primary game once I've completed it. x: I especially like to send myself eggs and start with an unconventional Pokemon like Eevee or Shinx, or do things like Nuzlockes and Wonderlockes for fun. And in ORAS, almost all of the new mega stones are only obtainable post-game (DUMBEST THING EVER UGH), and by then you can only utilize them for wifi/battle resort. I can't wait to play through again with a Lopunny as my Mega. __

ALSO in ORAS I think it would especially be worth getting both because your enemy team is completely different - the dialogue and character interactions are unique to each game. That's just my two cents, though.

i totally forgot i made this thread XD. i ended up buying OR anyway. i've liked Team Magma ever since i've watched chuggaconroy's Let's Play of Emerald. once i get all the OR only pokemon (like all those dang legends) and items, i was going to use OR to do all my lockes i wanted to do (like egglocke and typelocke).

I have both OR and AS. Well, originally I planned on only getting AS, but the site I pre-ordered it from was taking a unholy amount of time getting it shipped out, and I was getting impatient so I bought OR from the nintendo store xD I have a 3DS and a 3DS XL, so AS is unofficially my boyfriend's game for whenever he feels like playing it :]
