There are spoilers here, obv.

Saw it last night. It was better than I thought it would be. I was totally one of those, "why the fuck are you splitting this in two because not enough shit happens", people, and I am happy to admit I was wrong.

The movie keeps a great pace, and has just enough comedy in it to not completely depress you, but really, one of the most "oh shit" moments was when they dropped Katniss off in district 12.

She was literally walking over skeletons/torched remains, and I love that they actually showed what happened to the people, instead of leaving it with a generic "everyone died" statement.

I also love that they did not shy away from Finnick being a capitol prostitute.

There were changes, yes, but to me, they weren't enough to really notice. Effie being there I think was a good change. Seeing scenes that did not have Katniss in them was a little weird, but only because I know the books are first person, and she is in every scene.

Now lets talk about Peeta.

OH MAN.

Seriously, even though he was barely in the movie, he totally stole it. It ended where everyone was speculating, (Peeta choking Katniss), but FUCK. Even though I knew it was coming, it was hard to watch. And the makeup or weight loss or body double or whatever they used to transform him from Peeta to hijacked!Peeta was amazing. He looked like a different person.

They managed to turn the most boring book, and the most boring part of the most boring book, into something fantastic, and I can't wait to see what they did with part 2.

I saw this film a few nights ago, and I liked it as well. The fact that I was in a hurry to read the books and watch the first 2 films made me more excited for it. It wasn't as sad as I expected it to be, but maybe that's because I'd read the book so I knew what would happen, but there was still enough drama to keep me interested. And the next film is going to be even sadder. I may end up reading the books again in the year that I have to wait to see it.

At first I thought the two-part split would be frustrating, but they did it so well. The ending was perfect and pretty much just left me sitting in the theatre, staring at the screen, wondering what to do with my life. And I'm seriously amazed by how honest Katniss' reaction was when she saw District 12.

The whole movie just blew me away.

I look forward to seeing this movie after the first couple and reading the books.

I found the film quite slow, because not much was happening, but the actors were all superb, really. Astounding work by the entire cast. Also liked the tone of the film and there were some very touching scenes.
