I am unable to claim my zombie skin in the wardrob

Hi,
Claiming new skins in the wardrobe is all very nice, but when doing so, it doesn't offer me the skin I already have, but a more advanced stage of the same virus.
I am a Stage 7 Love Bug zombie from 2009. has had the same thing happen to them. When they claimed their skin in the wardrobe, it gave them a Stage 8 instead. Quoting their comments on the news post :
<p> love this whole thing i have been a love zombie for years!! BUT it gave me the option of the full on lovebug last stage skin and i only had stage 4 (i purposely stopped there because i love the way it looks now im terrified to change my clothes because i don&;t want to lose it :O
It says stage 4, but I believe we had the same stage, which is 7.

I didn't go that far in the process, but apparently claiming the skin gave them 8 and not 7. I'd rather not go anywhere near the wardrobe to check that out myself.

Yes i was stage 7 it was the stage before you turned all pink (hearts all over and sprinkled around heart eyes no nose but skin color was reg skin color) <3 Im sad I had clicked the button to upload before knowing it would change my stage :(
I got some messages asking how i stopped it where i wanted. It was possible, that was the first pandemic year, you had to get bit and the more you got bit by that particular strain the further you progressed so if you wanted to stay a certain stage you hid in a corner and hoped no one bit you further. So yes you could stop the strain where you liked it.

Sorry for the wait, I was waiting on an answer. I have been told that it is not a possibility to add the other strains. They said that it was a bug in the first place that users were able to stop on the earlier stages, so it really wasn't supposed to be possible. If you claim now, you will receive the skin for the final strain.

If I don't claim the strain I have, can I still use the wardrobe with that skin and no other like I have for the past - almost - 6 years ? I wasn't going to turn back to human anyway, but back when the news was posted, it felt it was something that had to be done to keep moving on

I don't think that you HAVE to turn it in but I may be wrong. BUT it may be that some newer features (like the no cutout BGs) may not work for you since you may not be able to move that base.

It's okay, my wardrobe doesn't include a lot of stuff to begin with, and I can live without backgrounds I didn't know exist. I guess we'll have to wait and see to see the full scope of what I'll be missing on, but none of it will convince me to claim the skin anyway, so that solves the problem
