Has anyone else played it yet? Personally, I've been fairly disappointed with it. While the graphics are phenomenal, a lot of features have been taken out of it that made controlling a Sim super fun. You can't buy cars, dishwashers, trash compactors or some of my favorite things. Your baby sim will never be a toddler. The autoroof feature is gone, and so much more. There are lots of things I enjoy about it, but I'm really hoping for an expansion soon.

Also, Origin is a pain in the tookus. I know there's probably some super good reason why Origin exists, but it made installing a game (where I could actually see the data on the disk) take days. Why are we purchasing disks if it's going to force us to download the game off the internet anyways?

If there's another Sims 4 topic, feel free to lock this one.

I haven't played TS4 yet, because from what I've read about it I'm not very excited, and my computer is really old, AND I'm seriously not going to pay full price for the game, soooo I'll just wait for a new computer and for the prices to go down. I'm also waiting to see what kind of expansion packs they release.

ANYWAY I just wanted to say that I'm really disappointed about the lack of toddlers. I love TS3 toddlers. The most useless sim age ever is baby, so I don't understand why they didn't get rid of that instead. >__>

I've been waiting to get it until the price drops but it's definitely low on my list of priorities. I was super excited to play until I read all the reviews

I really don't think I could go back to a sims game where you have to install a mod for every additional color you want a specific shirt in. I really like the multitasking feature though. I'll eventually get it but I'm sticking to Sims 3 for now. I have been spoiled with CASt and I don't ever want to leave it : (

What!!?? You can't buy cars!!?? :(

I was going to get it and was very excited when they announce it but I heard it doesnt have a open map like sims 3 and I loved that. And I'm really surprised with all they removed from the game x_x

Of course I then realised I don't have money anyway so it doesn't matter xP

Personally, I love it. I had been dying for being able to make bodies even more custom than before. And the AI is really neat too. There are things I miss from Sims 3, (Like the color customization, which is probably my biggest complaint) But aside from that, they made modding a lot easier, to install, and to make. I'm glad they didn't make it open world, because I love modding, and the loading took SO LONG with mods, it was frustrating. I am excited about next month, and seeing what new careers they are going to add. I really hope they make some where you go and do them, similar to sims 3. I have high hopes for it though. ( The development of the game as time goes on I mean)

Hey you guys forget, the point is this way they can release the "add-on" or expansion packs so they make MOAR money and then you get the stuff you're wanting added in.

Seriously though, I had a preorder on it even and then I find out that my NEW computer "doesn't support" it. In order to get the features I need added, I'd need to drive over an hour to take it in, pay $100 for them to install it not to mention the price for the part, then drive back out to pick it up. It will be a costly headache. Not to mention the fact that I already have these "glitches" with the Sims 3 ones as it is so I'm like I REALLY REALLY want it but after this thread, I don't feel as bad.

I got the same problem with other game. I bought it and then tried to install it and it just didn't work. So I pay money to a guy to upgrade my computer and it got worst, now my computer shut down when I play x_x

At least I can still play Sims 2 and Sims 3. But even if it doesn't have all of the features the other sims had. But I got no money. And even if I had money.... well let's just say my computer probably won't run it.

Oh man what a headache!

I hear that.

All the hype though had me so excited to get it and play it and then BOOM! shot down. I HATE that they released the specs SO LATE because I could have made sure I had what I needed when this damned computer was purchased!

I got it when it first came out as a gift. I would never pay for it myself knowing toddlers were missing. I love the graphics and how the sims interact / multitask and they seem like they have more personality? I played maybe 3-5 days then got bored. The careers are really weird and difficult to me.

I'm just waiting for them to add more. They already added pools for free and they're adding new careers as well. I'll probably get into it again once they add toddlers. I won't love it as much as I did sims 3. But I can't go back to sims 3 due to the lag. Sims 4 runs flawlessly.

I'll never get over the fact infants are stuck to the crib like a mobile game ;_;

In my opinion the two citys are the worst. I have only a few houses I can choose from. I enjoyed to build my own city and now I can't do anything! I played a few hours my family and when my children were adults, the city turned into a ghost town. The other Sims are dumb. They can't get maried and have children by themselve... I reminds me more on Sims Medievel than Sims 3 (because of cooking, fix world, babys, moods, collecting metals and things like that...) BUT I like some of the new features: I like the new bar for romantic social skill between two sims. The new social interaction buttons are great as well. The new job requirements are cool (but a liitle hard sometimes). And personally I like that babies are in the crib. I hate it in Sims 3 when visitors "steal" the baby and won't let it go. But YES it's sad that they skip the toddler state. Baby bam! child! Awful! Ehm... I love the new creator and the new characteristics you can give your sims. The moods make it more life like but are easy to manipulate. And the date/party "quests" are nice. I think with the future addons will bring more variety in the game. Let's wait ^^ And I had to alter my gameplay compared to the Sims3 but that's ok. I like it anyway but it's not that engrossing than the older version.

I was just going to ask this very thing a few days ago! lol. I have been curious if anyone else has played it. I didn't get into Sims until 3 and I love it. I have almost all the expansion packs (not the stuff packs, I refuse to pay that much for a few extra items)- and it's fun. It did crash on me for awhile, but I research and researched and found ways to make it work better and mods to clean up the game so the lag doesn't happen. I know people have had issues with it, which is probably why they did a sims 4 to begin with. They said they build it on an entirely new system of code, so it wasn't using anything from sims 3, a completely different way of doing it too- so that's why it probably runs better.

Personally, I've never understood the drastic age changes. Baby to child is no biggie- but I'm not a fan of the child to teen part. They need a 'tween' age. Just seems so odd for a child be be like, 7 or 8 and then BAM 16. It's like, what? lol. It's just weird. Also, I find it strange that the young adults age is 31. Like, huh? I mean, sure they are still young and adult, but I think of young adults as 18-25 really.... but whatever.

Sims are amusing. I just started playing mine again a few weeks ago. Had a few glitches and crashes, but rare. I love the open world and I think it would get old quite to have to switch to different areas all the time just to get around. It's like 'fade to black, skip to this town'. Some rp games do that, I know- but sims doesn't play like many one person rp or mmo's after all.

But yeah, No way will I spent freaking $60 on a game when I've spent so much on what I have already. I'm sticking with sims 3. Unless sims 4 becomes the most amazing game ever in the history of the world, I'll probably never switch.

I got the limited edition free from work. My manager ended up getting a list of free games and shared it the employees.

I liked the new career path choices but was highly disappointed with the limited Sim control liked you had in 3. I feel as it has potential, if the developers cared enough.

Don't really have much more than 10 hours on it, Sims 3 Seasons has me preoccupied c: (imo best expansion ever)

I have tried to sit down and play it. I just couldn't get as invested into it in comparison to 3 and 2. I feel like I would have accepted The Sims 4 as a followup to Sims 2, but in a lot of ways 4 is a step back from 3. The fact that you don't have a full map for your sim to travel and you have to load each lot really bugs me. I feel like I could have lived with all the other changes, but that one to me is just laziness.

I bought the Collectors edition when it was released here in the UK. I enjoy the graphics and some elements of the game, I also have just purchased the game pack Outdoor Retreat but I have not played much with this pack yet.

In all honesty I haven't played much of it at all, but hopefully with more features to be released and a new expansion pack on the way which enables more careers and businesses I will try to play more!

All these reviews are super scary, omg. I really love the Sims series, but if Sims 4 is really this bad... I'll hold off on it until a really good expansion pack is released.

Multitasking sounds pretty cool, but I don't understand some of the game design choices they made. Babies never turn into toddlers? Weeeird. I bet cars will show up in an expansion, though it seems crappy to me to make players pay for something that used to be included. :/

I read all of these, and I must be in the minority because I love the game. I mean, yeah they didn't add in a lot of the stuff that they probably should have with the base release, but they're trying to make amends I think with the monthly free releases. They may be small, but they are adding in things that people want. They've added more careers, pools, ghosts, new clothes...the expansion pack that they created was relatively cheap and added just about as much as all of the other expansions for the sims 3 would put in.

I think people were just spoiled by the sims 3. xD Maybe they released the game the way that they did because they didn't want to keep pushing it back. Everything wasn't done, and they didn't want to be in the same group as people releasing a broken game. Last year was horrible for that.

Yes, there are some things that bug me and are unfinished, but I do enjoy it. I've logged 50 hours in about two months, and I would add more if I wasn't a bit bored of the sims in general.

That's just my opinion though. I'm sure that it'll get better as it goes on, the base games are almost always lacking, especially since we come from a game with a ton of expansions.

My husband bought it for me not long after it came out, and I was hella disappointed in it. One of my major sims things is legacies, its really all I do. Not having the family tree really took a lot of the fun out of it for me. I hated the loading screens (though it is a very short loading period). No cars. No toddlers. No pools. Now there are pools and family trees, so I'm playing again. I do not like how hard it is to get them to eat, how hard their lifetime wants are, how hard getting promoted in a job is. And don't get me started on how hard adding a roof is!! I do find that having a writer/artist is a lot easier to make a living at. Big families are hard to handle. And I --hate-- that there's no 'story progression' and that the game deletes townies so quickly. I cannot have my sims fall in love with a townie because the next day the townie is gone! So frustrating. I can't even throw parties because of that. I have to manually repopulate. Ugh. At least I can go grab my bff's sims and throw them in town. I do like that.
