This I think needs to be looked at and soon as players will be spending sP unnecessarily on upping their layers when there's no need to do so.
I have one item on my chest. I put one more on. In the new wardrobe it says "You can only wear 3 items on your chest layer! You are currently wearing 5. You can purchase an additional slot for 75,000sP for 1 month!"
This is incorrect. I don't know what's going on but please fix layer count! This is happening in a number of layers.

I've noticed this too. I think it's counting the items i was wearing on the previous HA before i use the "remove all" button to start over and create a new one. Hope this can be fixed soon; it is a bit confusing!
if that might be the case, then there's something SERIOUSLY wrong with the coding. My current and last HAs only had 1-2 items on the head layer, for example, and it's still saying I have way more than I have layers for when I try a wig/head item on top of the current wig O_o

I have the same issue with face layer. When I add one item it is counted as the fourth item. Using Firefox 33.0.
I've been having this issue as well, even after "Removing all." I was really confused, and started buying extra layers, and then I noticed that the layer warning started coming up with less items added. So strange. However, I've noticed that if you ignore it and put on how many you know you're able to it still seems to save the same.
Yeah, ignoring it seems to work fine (clicking save when I know I have the correct number of layers). Otherwise, if I still have issues, I save a naked avatar and rebuild.
But this does need modification, since it's telling us incorrectly that we're over, and it was confusing until I figured it out.
Thank you for letting me know. I've made a report to the programmers. :)
Is this still an issue? If so, what browser are you using? Have you tried the beta wardrobe?
When you started to make this new HA did you use the "Remove All" option by chance?
@ Reya - I'm positive I did (I do it every time I make a new one).
Edit to add in light of Introvert's post- at some point while building, I did save the avatar to an outfit spot and resume building a few minutes later.
Wow, old topic is old.
Copying and pasting because I'm lazy af:
I'm trying to make a new HA, and I keep getting told I'm wearing too many items on my face... and the count is way off.
screenshot I'm only wearing one face item, yet it's telling me I'm wearing seven.
Closed the wardrobe and tried again. This seems to happen when I load an outfit to edit it, not when I make an outfit from scratch or when I edit the outfit I'm currently wearing. (Also sidenote: it won't let me save outfits in my 5-8 slots, which are all empty)
If I recall correctly from when I first was testing out this bug (waybackwhen), it had to do with the "Remove All" button. For whatever reason using it wouldn't update the layer counter (removing the numbers).
So, instead of using the remove all, hitting the x next to the item to remove it individually seemed to work. Not sure if this is actually (still) the case or not. Just something I noticed before.
