I gave Ian the note and after everything he said that he would call me back. I heard that it only takes about 15 minutes for him to call back, but for me it's been days, and he still hasn't called back! Please help!

Do you mean for the next step in the plot? There hasn't been any update yet (it'll show up in the news), so no worries! Sometimes it takes a day or more for the plot to advance. Ian will call when he is ready.

I didn't get any sort of alert after that step, I just went back downstairs a little later and talked to him again I think? And then the basement door was glowing, that was the step after that, so I went down there and completed those steps. I um can't really explain it very well because I'm out of town right now so I'm randomly popping on a borrow iPod and laptop and working on it, and I haven't seen the forums so I don't know what steps were released together or anything XD But I know that when they say he called you back, I'm pretty sure I didn't get any kind of alert to go back and see him or anything. Maybe that message came back up at the patch saying I needed to go back, but I'm not sure?

I think this will be similar to the Vesnali event. Since this is a plot, everyone has to be at the same spot in order for it to continue. That said, whoever misses this part won't be able to do the next one. I did the thing fir Ian 2 days ago but my friend just finished doing his a few hours ago.

Since it's been over a day since the plot started, I'm going to guess that he'll call us all there for part 2 of the event later today. If I remember correctly, there was an entire day between each part of the vesnali plot. "Come back tomorrow" the npcs always said

yeah that's how they usually do it... I just am not quite clear based on the wording of the OP if she went down to the basement and did all of that or if she just stopped after the note. I know the first time I went down there I didn't realize the door in the back was clickable.

Your lucky, I tried giving him the note and nothing happens. I have searched that whole house for clues and its not letting me in basement :(

I had this same problem. In the first one you have to click both parts of the table not just the animation part. The tea cup, then upstairs the phonograph (i think its called) and then you have to look at the shadow through the locked door ^^ Hope this helps you out :)
