Hi there i am pretty new to this site and hoping that since peeps have got their artwork links up here i could hopefully share my own, its not drawing skills or graphic arts but photography, if anyone out there is interested take a quick gander at my blogs and my photography which i consider in some aspects to be just as artistic as drawing (i also have a fine art diploma, so i am not unfamiliar with the HB family or unable to draw a cat, photography just hit it off for me)

Feedback is most appreciated as i am trying to make my way as hopefully one day a professional Petographer (soley taking photos of animals/peoples beloved pets) I am currently studying a BA honours degree in photography and all your feedback will go towards my portfolio that will basically help my life (no joke)

so if ya have some spare time, check out my work let me know what ya think and if my services as a photographer could be at all helpful (bearing in mind i live in the UK) i am happy to help i love making people happy :) and helping out where i can!

OOO one more thing is there anyone online here that would do or direct me in the correct direction for a couple of custom pet profile pics to be made up, i am so unsure how to go about asking, where to ask, or who to ask! sorry for being a long post, thank you for reading!

Yeah! No problem. I noticed that no one had responded to you yet, so I figured I'd give it a shot! I really did enjoy them, you've got talent! Oh, thank you! There are two others as well, the one I have on is the Gold Dragon Egg, they're all pretty cheap in user shops as well. I'm about 100% certain they're GoT references, which is why I bought them xD

My humble opinion as greenhorn/hobby photographer - I think you have a very good eye for interesting motives and I especially am fascinated by the people portraits. Very beautiful and great captures!

Hey, good to see a fellow nikon user! The D90 is a great camera, lots of control and decent specs for one of the old series!

Now your photos - I looked on Flickr since it usually had the least compression of all hosting sites. You've got some great shots in there, some that really stand out against the others. The ones that really caught my eye were the destruction if the ball in three shots side-by-side, your self portraits and the ones of the girls on the swings. The three shot series's is great because it's a story with no words, something every dog-owner can relate to without any fancy effects. It's very good composition and a unique set up amoung your other photos. Things like that are fantastic for portfolios, especially ones for uni - they usually like things that are different, that stand out but don't alienate. You're showing your ability to not only take good photos, but to piece them together in a wider picture.

The self-portraits are good thanks to the colour schemes and composition. The only improvement I can think of would be perhaps one with different lighting - some contrasting highlights and shadows in a monochrome palette could work well!

The kids on the swings will be great for a professional portfolio! They show the children relaxed and happy, but in an unusual yet natural position whilst playing with, again, good composition. You can see that your not staging the photo and that's great for anyone hiring a pro to see - that you have a natural talent for good photos with unpredictable subjects!nnThe photos of the dogs (I'm assuming your own?) are great too! A top tip for dynamic pet photography is to get down to their level and always concentrate on the eyes. Amusingly, this works the same for kids too!nnYou've got talent, man! Keep it up and I'm sure you'll be a pro in no time!

(Huh it's been a while since I posted on the forums. Seems Subeta still hates people who post via a smartphone.)

Thank you so much for such a detailed response, could you be teaching me at uni instead? my tutors never give reports like that! :)

thank you thats helped me out a lot its really good to have complete strangers views and opinions on it, really constructive and nicely laid out, i know what i gotta do now! and yes it is all in the eyes isn't i need to remember this when focusing, and also to buy some new lenses, they really really make a difference its quite shocking! what may i ask do you use, and is there any opportunity for me to look at some pictures perhaps you have taken? and you say you are a fellow Nikon user, i love seeing how other photographers view the world, and being photographer doesn't mean you need a phd in it, haha its just about knowing your camera.

And the dogs are not all mine unfortunately the two small white ones are, the others are clients that are friends of friends, or people that see my petography ad in University and call me, some are paid some i do for free, i love animals and making people happy with photos and i see it as all fun, not too much of hard work thats editing the photos! haha :D and don't worry for some reason i couldn't even get onto subeta, the pages wouldn't load at all and the menus wouldn't work, but its back now! YEY i love this site so much everyone has been so kind! and i need to take a break from my dissertation on the Surrealists and the Unconscious mind! we humans are very complex! :P

Haha, I'd love to teach in a proper setting! For now, I just give one-hour sessions on the basics to new camera users. It's great fun though and I'm glad my response was so helpful!

I currently shoot with a D7100! I've used lots of different cameras over the past year and a half however as I used to work in a photography store and helped out a friend for a few weeks with his wedding photography business. Yes, lenses are incredibly important - I personally don't have a large range any more as I sold some to get money for university but a good quality prime and telelphoto will do you well as a basic set. I shoot nearly everything with my 35mm f1.8G just because its so small and light and reserve my 70-300mm for bird watching. Mind if I ask what you currently have? For photos I've taken, there's a small selection on my /"> flickr page. I'm super picky about my own photos so there's not that much up there at the moment. I've just realised I don't even have any photos of my cats up there - maybe I'll upload some later if I can find my hard drive!

Aaw, thats nice to hear! I love animals and can see why you'd love pet photography the most! All the photos of dogs look like they're really relaxed around you so you're obviously an animal person. The two wee white dogs look adorable though!

Yeah, Subeta has a great community spirit in the forums, though its not without its drama but most people I've met are nice! But the Creativity forum is probably the most relaxed along with Chit-Chat! Oh wow, sounds a bit more intense than my latest university assignment on Narrative techniques in novel writing! Good luck with the dissertation! :D
