I haven't quite gotten the hang of weapon modification, so I was hoping for a wise battler to coach me. Should I be modding my weapons differently? What is the strategy? I would really like to learn/get some advice!
This is what my current set looks like (including the modifications) Default Set mods: mods: mods: mods: Other non mod-able weapons in default set:
Other Weapons in Set (have not yet modded) (have not yet modded, because waiting for ice wand to come back to MC) mods: (yes, I have 2 of these...should I sell one?) mods: mods: mods: Other non mod-able weapons:
My battle pet, Shoshanna, is almost at tier 10, if that is useful information.

There is no "Perfect" modification that will work for all battle challengers.
You should try and adjust your modifications as needed based on the challenger you are fighting.
Do you have a specific challenger you are currently working on beating?
thanks for replying. I guess I was hoping that there was a default modification of weapons that I could return to that would be most useful in general. Would you say that the best strategy is to mod for defense or attacks, in general? Should I base it on my opponents' weaknesses or should I base it on defending from my opponents' strengths? Or should I mod each weapon based on its own weaknesses?

First of all, nice HA!
Modding can vary from person to person.
This is my modding method:
For opponents that can freeze - put at least 1 parched crystal and/or natural armor crystal on your main attackers and one-use items for the anti-freeze blessing
For opponents that can steal - put at least 1 natural armor crystal on your main attackers and one-use items for the anti-steal and anti-freeze blessing
For opponents that block all but one or two icon elements like Forj - put attack crystals (the element that isn't blocked of course)
For all opponents - critical strike crystals because they're awesome xD
For opponents that block a variety of elements and/or heal a lot - put at least 1 singed crystal for the curse
Hope that helps!
My thinking is a bit lazier than . As you progress through the higher ranks, freeze protection becomes essential for almost every opponent. I've modded all my one-use weapons with parched baguettes or tears of natural blessing for the chance to activate anti-freeze blessing in a pinch.
I then have one of my two main attackers fully modded with parched baguettes. This gives you a 'fail safe' weapon of sorts; if your blessing drops, there's one weapon you can use to give you a good chance to put up a blessing. To choose which weapon, maybe try looking at the icons the weapon deals or thinking about how important your weapon is in defeating your opponent.
For example, I modded my Manifesting Weapon with 4 parched baguettes because I want to use it every turn to block Prodigy's water icons. And the fire and water icons the buguettes add also line up with the fire and water icons the Manifesting Weapon deals - the more icons of one type you deal, the more damage you sink through partial blocks.
I mod my second attacker out with parched baguettes for the consistent damage increase (vs. the chance from crit crystals) coupled a good chance to sustain a singed curse to pass consistent icons through blocks. The fire and magma icons also happen to complement my Possessed Bow nicely.
