It is hoarders that drive me up a wall. Really people, dont you realize that by dumping 125 broken dawn light bulbs, or 87 books of the same title or , well, you get the idea- you are driving down the prices for everybody. If you have 93 copies of The Joys of Bra Collecting" priced at 4,500sp, then can't you understand that I am forced to lower my own price for the book so that you don't create a monopoly and keep the rest of us from selling our books. Please, fellow citizens of Subeta, think twice before dumping everything you own into a shop. Just 1 or 2 of an item is fine and reasonable. If you do this, then I promise not to undercut your %$#&* hoarded crap when stocking my own virtual shelves. Do we have a deal?
Ugh! Yes! I can't stand this! I can just about let it slide when it's large amounts of low value holiday stuff, but when it's actual, normal, restockable stuff just creating a pricing roadblock on something I could potentially make a nice profit on, it's pretty infuriating. It's one of those situations where just because you can do something with no repercussions from the site, it doesn't mean your not kind of a dick for doing it.
I actively try and keep my shop stock down to a certain level; I check to see if there are any items stocked over a certain amount everyday, and extras over that amount go in the vault for later. Sure it's a bit more work, moving things out and eventually back again, but I consider it common courtesy (also, it's a good opportunity to re-price things which are clearly not selling). A lot of people prefer to buy items from shops with lower stock amounts, anyway.
Am I making money if you have the lower prices and not me?
I'm not in business so that it can be convenient for you. I'm in business so that it can be convenient for me.
I don't understand how quantity has anything to do with it... as long as people autoprice/price lower it doesn't really matter how many exist within a shop.
Unless of course its a RB item or something and they need mass amounts of them at once - but even then price isn't really important there.
So... Pointless complaint is pointless?

Soooo hoarders can't hoard their crap and not sell their crap either? if you lower your price, then the hoarder will go lower as well (because autopricers).

This annoys me a little, too. The thing is, if you have 100 of one item in a shop then that item won't completely sell out as fast and it will just keep getting lower and lower with persistent undercutting. So eventually that item just completely depreciates in value... If you have only one or a few of that item then it makes prices more stable because it will get bought up at that price much faster than if you have 100. Sure, you can go lower, but that just gets the ball rolling and the price gets lower and lower.
Apologies if that didn't make much sense... it's late. xD
Yeah, it can be annoying sometimes, but I'm not an impatient person. I can wait until their stuff sells. I don't mind selling stuff at a cheaper price, as long as it's not at a loss. If they want to sell a book at 4.5k and the next price up is 10k, then that's giving them the sP, and giving the buyer a good deal. If someone is selling their hoards at a cheaper price, it's not their fault that people buy their stock and not yours. At the end of the day, the buyers go for the best deal. I would rather buy something that is cheaper rather than something that is overpriced.
Makes perfect sense. This is exactly what annoys me about certain hoarders. Some don't affect prices so badly, but there are those who do.
It's the combination of hoarding AND severely undercutting items that were already at a fair price that I dislike. It takes ages for the price of those items to get back up to a fair amount, if they ever do.
Too many times I've RSed a nice selection of items that would make a good profit, only to have it ruined by some hoarder slashing the prices in half, or lower. Even to the point where they will no longer make a profit because they've dropped them below official shop price. >_<
I'll buy up undercut items when there's only a handful, but hundreds? Screw that.
Disliking people for things like this is kinda silly; for starters, how do you know that it was the hoarder who slashed the prices in half? Someone else could have undercut them and forced them to lower their prices.
Who knows, the hoarder could have even ended up with their hoard after buying the items from people who had severely deflated them; should they have to keep the items forever now and never sell them then?
I kinda like randomly deflated items; they're really great when you're asked for them in quests! Yeah it can kinda suck when you think you've obtained something valuable and then find out it has been deflated, but when that happens I try to just shove the items in the vault until later on.
I know it's not always the hoarder's fault, but I am aware of at least two users who both hoard AND slash the prices. They may or not be the only ones who do this. It's hard to tell in most cases because of how shop search orders the results. But it does happen.
I'd give more detail, but anything else I say would make it easy to spot them in shop search, and this would become targeting.
