Hi, everyone. You can call me Glitch and I am one of the many refugees fleeing Neopets as they crumble and burn.... I may be bringing a friend or two along with me but I am scouting ahead for them. So far I am finding the site rather confusing but having been a Neopian for over thirteen years, so that's probably why. I am doing what I can to adjust here.

I will be turning twenty on the seventeenth of this month and have a gorgeous little six month old daughter and a veteran husband. We have a zoo in our home including dogs, fish, spiders, snakes, dragons, frogs, rabbits and a cat. I do a lot of crafty things from drawing and painting to crochet and rainbow loom. I tend to not believe in beginners steps and like to dive in head-first with the advanced stuff. I hope I [and my friend(s)] can find a new home here. After looking over the facebook page, I think it will turn into yet another addiction.

I've never been to Neopets before, but due to a lot of people coming over to Subeta I assume that something huge and not really positive happened, am I right? Well, I do hope that you find your way around here fast and therefore I would like to link you to THIS guide. Like what said, a lot of us have come from neo (my account is almost 14 years old over there) lol so if you need a hand just let some of us know and we'll be more than happy to lend a hand! I'm still trying to get my friends to come over here from there, just can be hard for some since after so many years it seems like quite an investment. I do like it here MUCH MUCH better, the community and staff feels much closer and friendly.

I get your friends' point of view. I don't think I could leave neo completely, but I am enjoying spending more time here and less time there atm XD Keep trying to persuade them!

Yeah I think I've grown attached to having actual conversations with people here, I remember all I ended up doing was spamming a board for hours to get attention for something... ugh. Plus the art contest made me sad since it was really who could spam the forums the most to get votes. >.< I have a bunch of issues with there that just BLEH... It was really the people keeping me there, not the site; whereas here on Subeta I find I enjoy what it has to offer and like it even more when my friends get involved. I really hope you grow to enjoy it here.

I get what you're saying though, I still have a few friends back there too. I'm surprised my guild hasn't booted me. xD I don't think I could ever adopt out all my pets and leave entirely either, but the way that site is going how more and more stuff is hidden behind a pay wall to enjoy it stinks. AT least here if you really need CSC there's a market where people sell it and cash shop items for sP.

Seeing people selling art here is super weird for me XD But I agree that the beauty contest on neopets is a farce. A lot on neo needs fixing.

If I didn't have very good friends there, I probably wouldn't be half so active as I am on neo D: But yeah, I'm hoping to get into things here, since neo has become pretty boring overall.

Are cults here the same sort of thing as guilds?

Yep I do believe so, I haven't really joined one yet so sadly I can't tell you much about them. But there's also forum ping groups you can join to get notifications when something you're interested in gets discussed.

For a lack of a better word, I find there's a lot more communication here as to whats going on with updates and events. Makes you feel more involved and actually part of the group.

Hey if you do art there's always people looking to have stuff drawn for sP/CSC & more. :) There's also some people who do free sketches and stuff for practice too, it's really inspiring really when you look at the art community.

But yeah if ever you need a hand with anything let me know! :3 I'm always around in some way or another!

cults are a lot like guilds, if a guild is what I think it is. Cults are groups of people who do activities together - I'm in Daily Item, which is a wardrobe-based group. We have an item each day that we're supposed to center our avatar (AKA HA) around, and we get points for it. These points we can redeem for prizes, so it's pretty rad. Group pings are pretty easy to join - you click on the hashtag in the post and follow the link, and then you can join the group right up at the top of the page. You can also subscribe to the forum you want to follow.

They sold the company to JumpStart (the people who make educational children's games) and had to transition servers. The site came back up after two days and pretty much NOTHING was working. All of the timers that dailies are on are still broken, game timers were just fixed (two days later) and buying in shops was fixed but a large majority of the site is not working and it's been over two weeks. On top of all this, people found out how to dupe items and TNT (the neopets team) is not fair in freezing people (I lost my first account because I use different IP addresses. I go back and forth from the hospital so I have to use their wi-fi sometimes) so it's extremely likely most of the players will be frozen because of this. Silly cheap items and things needed to train - along with currency - were duplicated so at this point, nothing is safe and everyone has touched something accidentally. Oh and on top of the already broken economy, they released a high-ticket item as a freebie to thank everyone for sticking around during the "now finished" (not really) transition to the new servers. That, my friend, is called a distraction. lol It's just a huge mess.

The navigation is what's really getting me right now, I think. I can't figure out how to get to quests. I had one with the walkthrough with Sarah and I got the item but I guess I never got it back to her because it's still sitting in my inventory. I'm also confused about the stars and text under people's names as well as how they get the photos on the side of their posts and their pet's faces in the circle on their user look-up. This is just waaay different than Neo. I'm working on it. :3

Ugh, that Neo beauty contest. I was one of three Skeiths one week and every board I posted on to advertise was like "wow, never seen a Skeith entry!" yet I got third place with like sixty votes while first place had hundreds. It's a fixed contest. Plain and simple.

Hi, I'm from Neopets too. There's a bit of a learning curve, but with that grounding it's easy to figure out what you're doing pretty quickly. I keep finding different subtly, amazing references all over the place, like how they released a "minion" of the Scottish mythological monster Nuckelavee.

Plus, we don't have to censor ourselves to the point of avoiding words like "bush". Oh, Neopets. I don't even know how many of their own items couldn't be discussed openly in the forums due to those draconian spam filters.

Quests are all located on the maps, the easiest way to not get lost when buying items - I open the purchase item link in a new tab, so that I always stay there. Sarah is located at Veta lake. (http://subeta.net/quests.php/sarah)

Our boards work more like forums than a live chat, you can look at forum options at the top of the main board to play around with how your posts look :)

Hi there! Welcome. I just ran away from that sinking ship, too. I'm very new here and can't offer you much help but one thing I can tell you for sure that everyone around here is VERY helpful. They'll get you started with links and guides and are quick to answer specific questions as well.

Hey there! I'm on neo as well, and I still play both, (but spend most of my time here!) Subeta is much more friendly and easier to enjoy. Items are affordable and the art is great. Neo was created for teenagers and it's only directed at kids these days. If I could choose a pet to get rid of, I won't be renewing my premium. But I'm definitely thinking about getting it for Subeta! Lately neo has just been AWFUL. You'll be surprised at how many people came here! xD I have some suggestions to get you started though! Sidebar + bookmarks. If you go to personal, go to customize sidebar, and under user dashboard you can find bookmarks. I'd suggest bookmarking the "what to do on subeta" forum page that the mod showed you on page 1. It's a handy list of dailies! For the sidebar, I like to have shop search, quest list, shop list, sitewide search, friends online, etc. Quests are the best way to make money. If you visit the "newbie" pet lookup, it also gives an idea of how much to spend for each one. :) Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything!!

Hello and welcome! The quest list that Soupy mentioned is fantastic. It just puts the list of quests in your sidebar so you never have to go searching for them. It really helps. I was on neo many years ago, but I left when they changed the pets to where they all looked the same so they could all wear the same clothes thing. I left there and came here and never looked back. :) Good luck
