So this topic was basically made previously and then closed despite previously having said that it was a recurring problem, so I'd appreciate it if this topic stayed open until the Potion Lottery works at least for a couple weeks straight, because working for 4 days straight is not a valid reason to close a topic without further inquiry on why it might be broken.

Problem 1: It breaks often (image of today's broken win) and stacks up the entries from however many days it has broken into one single lottery. Meaning anyone who bought a ticket yesterday now has to compete for people who bought a ticket today for a single potion, and vice versa, when the chances should have been split between two days and two potions. This doesn't happen daily and if you want me to screenshot it every time it does for more evidence I will be happy too. Or, as stated, the tickets from a User Not Found day can just be lost into the system, awarding no winner and resetting entirely for the next win.

Still unkown if this is an error when 80k+ tickets are bought.

Problem 2: Only four potions have been given out for... at least a year now? Glade Potion Common Potion Glacier Potion Blacklight Potion These are the only potions that have been won for a VERY long time. If this could get fixed that would be pretty fantastic. Again, I haven't taken the time to get proof, but if you'd like I'll take a screen shot daily and in a month's time it should be enough evidence. Unless there is some place in the coding that keeps any information about the previous winners that would help? Problem probably fixed! [edit] Now we get a third problem! This is like Christmas! I was about to comment a mod about this to maybe reopen an old topic, but yes it's pretty disappointing to see PS still breaks every other day :/ Not only people do it on birthdays, but there's also the achievement and all that.

Sometimes I get a "phantom" new news alert, then eventually the news show up (cron manually reset maybe?) but PS doesn't get fixed. :x I hadn't even realized it seems to be stuck on these 4 potions, but I can't recall seeing anything else in a long time indeed...

When it does "User not found", it doesn't always stack the tickets into the next day.

For 's birthday earlier this month, it broke at midnight on her birthday and the tickets were all gone - it had reset, just not awarded a winner.

Not sure if that happens all the time or not though.

Oh, I had assumed that even though it appeared reset they stacked since she still won. And I remember someone mentioning them winning after a User Not Found day where they had bought tickets the day before but not on the day when they should have bought tickets to actually win. I'll see if I can find it, you may be right, which is probably even worse seeing as how that means on any given day up to 100 mil. sP can just be lost into the system with no reward given back. I'm sure on some days people have spent even more than that, too. xD

Once I saw it had reset on her birthday, I bought her a ton more tickets just in case they reset it during the day. So I'm guessing that's why she won the next day?

The last time I remember seeing anything other than those four potions was a really really long time ago when they used to make a separate news post about the winner. I think Keith would post it and it would be like "congrats to ____ who won a ____ in the potion lottery" It was so long ago and seems so vague I'm not even sure if it was a thing that happened, I might just be making it up x:

But yeah this potion lottery really needs to be fixed. Why bother entering when it fails so much? There's already a chance of not winning it but now there's a chance of having this stupid glitch happen on top of that. It's just not worth the effort to participate. At all. And you'd think as much as staff love participation in things, it would be fixed by now.

I didn't even pay attention to this, but now you say it, it has indeed been a very long time since I've seen any other potion than those 4 win.

So that means that if you didn't buy a mega ticket or a ticket specifically for those 4 potions, we basically have been throwing money away for nothing for a very long time? That sucks big time!

Yeah, I just realized this when someone mentioned it about a week ago. I had been buying two megatickets a day for months without paying attention to what was given out to the winners.

It was a major let down when I realized how much money I threw away on this. :/

Just for the sake of trying to find a pattern, until staff replies that this is supposed to be fixed.

Two issues since the fix:

1. won a Glacier Potion today, which is one of the four listed in the OP. I don't know if that means it's still broken or if it's just a coincidence though.

2. The potion's image on the news page is broken because it has some brackets in it:

10/2 update: won a Common Potion today. That's another one from the OP, so I'm still not convinced this is fixed. The potion image is broken again (same thing with the brackets in the img src).

Yeah, I don't think this is fixed at all.

not only is the potion lottery still broken in the same ways it was broken before, but now it's even more broken than it was before the "fix" was pushed.

I didn't realise the lottery was broken. I was amazed I won because all I bought were 2 single tickets both for a Glacier potion as part of Major Drills quests. So, my win shouldn't be taken as it still being broken just yet.

Potion lotto is still broken. Pinging you in case you didn't notice/see this.

I think it works by choosing a potion, then selecting the winner out of the pool of people that bought tickets for that type of potion. So, since a Glacier Potion came up again, and is one of the potions that was selected while the PL was broken, there hasn't been any evidence yet that it's fixed. Who won and exactly what tickets they bought is irrelevant (unless of course you hadn't bought tickets for a Glacier Potion at all, that would just be a mess :P)

Ah! Well I guess I got lucky in what is essentially a rigged lottery :/ That doesn't seem right somehow. But I did buy 2 tickets however, so it's not totally broken - just mostly.

4th win after the "fix" and it's a Glade Potion that won. Coincidence has been thrown out the window for me. Unless the fix was to break the image so we don't know which potion won and it's like a fun little mystery game. ^_^
