Hey guys, I'm on the search for some musicians and bands I've probably never heard of. Maybe even some songs I haven't digged around for. I listen to a decent range of music that excludes hip-hop, pop, indie, rap, country, and things along those lines. I listen to metal, rock and varieties, piano, orchestral, acoustic, flute, oriental, and whatnot. Anyone have music suggestions?

mewithoutyou is my absolute favourite band and i love to just recommend them to everyone. (:
Metal? Is always good to see heavy music fans (: Well, you can try some folk metal (like Turisas, Finntroll, Cruachan...) or some Thrash Metal (Sacred Reich, Suicidal Tendencies, Toxic Holocaust...) Now I'm listening to Mental Shock, by Municipal Waste. They're one of my fav thrash bands. Check out their songs! Also, if you like orchestral, you can try ths version by Apocalyptica of 'Nothing Else Matters', the Metallica song, or Rebirth, by Angra, they're great too!
Cleared by staff. Width may not exceed 450 pixels.
Ever listened to Vintersorg, or his older band Otyg? He mostly does folk metal and progressive metal. Folk metal song Trollslottet, more Swedish metal-y song For Kung Och Fosterland, more progressive metal song Cosmic Genesis.

Streetheart is a Canadian Rock n Roll band (circa early 80's) that has some fabulous music - they still tour and Kenny still hits all the notes. Look them up on youtube - my favorites are Snow White and Hollywood. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
If you like Gothic Metal type bands, Within Temptation is really great. If you like music like Evanescence then I strongly suggest We Are The Fallen. They're comprised of Amy Lee's ex-band mates with a new lead singer who on American Idol. Some of my favorite songs by them are 'Bury Me Alive', and 'Sleep Well, My Angel.'
I've also really been hooked on Digital Daggers since my friend told me about them a few months ago. I like pretty much every song they've ever released so I can't really suggest any song in particular to start with.
Not sure if you're into Celtic at all, but Hayley Westenra has a beautiful voice. May It Be is a great song she sings (though I think it is a cover).
I could probably come up with some more, but I'll leave it at those for now since I'm not sure if you'll even like the ones I've suggested lol

Try Von Hertzen Brothers or CMX?

Amaranthe are amazing and remind of me Nightwish a little bit, but much more upbeat. I also love the alternating female/male singing a lot. Their latest album is called Massive Addictive. Songs I recommend: Dynamite Drop Dead Cynical Digital World Afterlife I love them so much though so I'd recommend that entire album + other albums if you want to (one is self-titled, the other is The Nexus. My favourite album is Massive Addictive though).
Another band I adore to pieces is Machinae Supremacy. They have a -lot- of content out there, quite a few albums too. My favourite albums are Phantom Shadow and Rise Of A Digital Nation. Songs I recommend: Rise Of A Digital Nation (album title) Laser Speed Force Hero Beyond Good And Evil Phantom Battle I'd recommend a million other songs too but I didn't want to overwhelm you (and also if you don't like, that's cool)!
Try Van Canto, for heavier stuff. Although there is one song that's softer, yet still amazing. It's by Van Canto, titled "I Stand Alone." Fantastic.
On the quirky side of things, may I suggest Rasputina? They're a Victorian cello rock band that have some really interesting, atypical music. I like their album Cabin Fever best, personally. Their live album, A Radical Recital is also very entertaining and makes me want to visit their shows.
Here's a few songs: Transylvanian Concubine A song about vampires. What's not to love?
Tourniquet (Marilyn Manson cover) Really awesome Marilyn Manson cover. They give the song a different, but still dark, flavour.
Hunter's Kiss A deer encounter's a hunter. It's almost fairytale-like, the way they word it.
