I'd like it if instead of each news post having a page for comments, it just had a forum thread instead - like, if clicking on 'comment' bought you to a forum thread with the news post as its first post. There'd obviously need to be a new section of the forum called 'news' for these threads to go in.

That way we could use all of the forum bells and whistles like previewing, editing, pinging (or does that already work?), directly reporting, ect, and we'd avoid those situations where we end up with two separate discussions about a news item going on - one in the news comments and one in the forum.

Seems rather unnecessarily complicated for basic news posts.

I'm guessing it is possible, isn't that the way the Announcement forum works? I just don't see it as necessary. If something warrants a discussion, it's more appropriate to just take it directly to the forums.

Uh, no thanks. I like my news and my forums separate.

I actually like this suggestion. Flight Rising does it this way and it's really convenient

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It would be nice to be able to ping people who post on news articles (especially if they have a question), but what forum would it be in? Would all the old news posts be transferred to that forum?

Rather than have news posts moved, couldn't they just introduce pinging and editing to news comments? Seems like that'd be easier to implement (of course, I don't know for sure, it just seems so from my non-programmer's perspective). I'd definitely support that.
