[edit] Ooops turns out it's a WHOLE album not just a song.

So earlier today I was listening to the news when they mentioned something about U2 (a band if you hadn't heard of them) wanted to give back to their fans (and I suppose everyone else?) so they were offering a free song on iTunes. I didn't think much of it because personally they aren't my favorite band but I finally opened up iTunes today and while listening to my usual songs I saw the free song had already been added to my library. I gave it a listen just to give the song a try... (plus hey it's free right?)

It's not so bad, not the best thing I've heard but certainly not the worst. I'm pretty sure if you have iTunes the song is the same for everyone and it's called The Troubles.

So if you HAVE heard this song or have gotten it on your library playlist how do you feel about it, did you listen to it and keep it or did you listen to it and then removed it... or did you just delete it because of personal reasons? Either way share your thoughts here I suppose.

It's nice to see bands giving back even though they don't HAVE to. If your favorite band did that would you be overjoyed or what?

I think it's a nice idea for artists to do the free songs and such every now and then. When Radiohead released an album a few years back, they did a "pay-what-you-want" thing on their website to download it, even free. I think the bands that really support digital media are more likely to be open to doing things like this, though, and bands/artists that aren't all about the buck. /my2cents ;)

I actually got the whole album free, are you sure you only got the one song? I don't have any thoughts on it yet because I'm just now starting it, have to get back to you on that. I like the band, while they are far from my list of top 10, or actually even top 40, I think they are good. I'll most likely be keeping the album. :)

If one of my favorite bands did do something like this, I'd be pretty happy and grateful! It's pretty awesome that U2 is offering this for free, nice to see them giving their music away for free when they don't need to.

I never even noticed I just saw one song, thanks for letting me know, I will check and see if I got the whole album.

And yeah totally I would be too. But hey if we love the band enough, it's worth buying their stuff because it's good. :D

Oh yeah, if you like them it's good to support the bands you love. But I won't deny getting something for free sure is up my alley too!

I listened to the whole album and while it might not have been something I would have bought for myself, I will be keeping it. I don't like all of the songs but the ones I don't my other half does (the band is more his style).

I got a free U2 ALBUM on iTunes lol.

I personally like U2, so I was pretty glad I got the album. Although I've heard a lot of people complain about getting the album.
