Look, I've been keeping an eye on the cake contest entries on facebook, checking likes and shit

And I'm just saying, if it had been a top ten winners sort of deal, I would have made it in that list. As of right now, there are "only" eight entries that have more likes than my cake, three of which, obviously, were the winners.

It just really makes me happy that people seem to like my cake. I'm not an artist, I'm not good at decorating things, I'm not overly creative. I was happy with my cake, and how it turned out, even though I knew I didn't really have the skills to win. It was fun to enter.

When I told my husband he'd be getting cake (that weekend) for a Subeta contest, he made of fun me and asked if I'd actually do it on time this time since I misread the last (mask) contest and thought the date when winners were announced was the end day for entries. BUT I SURE SHOWED HIM.

(Also the cake was super delicious. Two tiered, thiiiiick home made frosting.)

Sorry you didn't win but it is nice lots of people seem to like what you made. Did your husband like it?

Oh thanks n_n That means a lot to me! I thought it was a fun idea, Subeta inspired, relevant, not a direct copy of any on-site item.

Had a lot of drama with the star, too, since my yellow decorating icing tube wasn't mixed properly. Spent a night panicking about how the FUCK do I do the STAR THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT then I remembered I had plain yellow food coloring and some of the white icing left over (I set some aside before I colored it all yellow) so THE DAY WAS SAVED.

It was cute, my husband was even helping me try to look up ways to make decorating icing.

I have no idea how to make cakes or do anything like that so just the fact that you made something is impressive to me, in itself. Seriously, the achievement cake is so unique, when I first saw it I couldn't get over it. I was like holy crap that's such a great idea.

It's sad that achievements don't really look like that now, at least for me. They've just been plain text on a background of the map of subeta which doesn't look as good in my opinion.

Would have also loved to have top ten cakes on site so you would have been included (and my grourmand to be even fatter), but the cakes going in the token shop really... the cooldown time is so frustrating 😳

Yeah, I'm sad that the achievements don't look like that for me either any more. I hope it's just a glitch the way it is now. It looks like a glitch.

If I were more skilled, I had another great idea that I am SURE would have placed.

Dark matter cake pops.

I saw someone else had done cake pops, and someone did dark matter brownies. But yeah, little chocolate cake pops with black and purple icing. Ahhh it would have been great.

Yeah, I kind of expected the winners to be floating items or something. And I was a little confused because it's like "the winner will receive one of their items" and I was just like "nbd I'll have hundreds by the end of the event" lol The token shop is a good way to keep the value of the items up, plus the achievement for eating them. I need to get one more, the priggle cake. Silly goggles got my TS restock so I'm hopeful something will happen in the morning.

I'm kind of relieved that they were token shop items, subeta's made some really questionable choices about item distribution lately looks at BOTB prizes so I'm just happy I can get them totally sitting on fat stacks of wizard tokens

And lucky you getting those goggles, I want them, but my cooldown hasn't finished yet, I bought a second wyllop cake because it's just so darn cute I couldn't help myself..

It was a very lucky day for me. I was in the middle of doing quests when the news post went up so not only did I manage to snag the goggles, but I also bought over 100 free beers while they were still 1k xD Aaaaaand I'm going to get 30k in my hoard tonight.

So close to 40k. So fucking far away from 40k.

BOTB made me unreasonably angry. I was sad about not placing so I didn't vote for any band, didn't play any street team and ended up losing out on ALL of the prizes huffs Cranky squid was cranky

That's a lot of items to hoard. I'm casually hoarding myself, mainly just quest rewards that I'm too lazy to hand price in my shop.

Oh man, BOTB made me really angry too. The band I made was totally discarded and never seen again, the band I ended up rooting for placed no where, I worked my tail off in street team and I got what... a sticker, a beanbag and like, nothing. I ended up buying the one prize I really wanted with sP so I'm just over the whole thing now. xD But I never want to see BOTB again.

Yeah. I've been trying to get the stupid shop hoard achievement ever since Keith said it would be retiring. I've been working seriously on it for the past month or two. I dumped my entire wardrobe (16k+) in there. It's been rough getting dressed lately, even without the wardrobe glitchiness.

I can't wait to be done with my shop. Just frag EVERYTHING ahhh it's going to be so good.

I wouldn't mind another festival. All of the items were nice, and no trying to restock, just straight buying items. I wouldn't even mind another BOTB if the rules for judging were made more clear. I made a really cute "newspaper clipping" article for my band and my friend and bandmate drew us some art to go with it and a band logo. Ah. So crushed to not even place.

I feel like it's too late for me to start trying to hoard, it's just too many items and not enough time, I have problems with not hoarding anyway. I always go to sell or frag or use items up and hardly ever just leave them around on my account.

The items were nice and I'm a sucker for wardrobe and food so I blew through quite a bit of sP in those trucks and yurts. Also that reminds me, I would have loved to have had a separate voting thing, like a user's choice awards! I wanted to see all the bands people made but they disappeared into the void after the preliminaries.

But back to the cake and hoarding for a second, the reason I bought a second wyllop cake is because I was planning on putting one of each into my gallery just for funsies and feeding one of each to my gourmand, so essentially buying 6 items from the ts. x.x From that standpoint, I would have been less than amused if there were more winners.

Well, I got to eat a delicious cake, and have this fun chat with you? I got a pretty good self esteem burst when I saw 29 people liked it on facebook. As for Subeta compensation, at this point, no nothing just for entering :c Sad, but whatever.

I agree! I would have loved to have seen all of the bands! I mean, without scrolling through the forums.

I'm sort of obsessed with my wardrobe too. It was a tough decision to dump it in to my shop, but easier knowing how many total items I have. I can't wait to put it all back in again. And I've been working on my gourmand pet (Cibophobia, fear of food ;D ). He just hit 1500, so I'm pleased. And I have so many more foods for him in my shop. If only there weren't that awful waiting time for hunger!!

This event is pretty good for that, though. Lots of cakes to feed him, and all of the new food achievements.

Well those are pretty good rewards :P but I think all the participants should have gotten a little something onsite. Maybe an achievement with a title? "Squid made a cake!" idk xD

I'm close behind you in the foods (mine is about 1300) and I agree that this event is good for working on gourmand. So far a lot of uneaten foods have been brought to my attention via achievements, like the hot sauces. I love the wardrobe too but I have no where as near as much as you @ _ @ I'm still proud that I have almost 7,500 now, which is around half of that achievement right?

Also I have to comment on your pets :P You have a lot of phobia pets and that's really neat

"made a cake" is such a cute title. Now I wish I'd gotten it xD But I've been trying to like ... delete the mindset that I must be rewarded for EVERYTHING I do. Like Elwood kind of mentioned it, I think, in one of the news posts about how people need rewards for every little thing idk I was thinking about it after I went to bed last night, the mask competition had a participation reward. I should have got one too!!

I make wishlists for things I need, so I have a whole (completely unupdated) wishlists for foods to feed Cibophobia, and I delete them when he gets fed rather than when I get the item. It helps a lot. My hoard also helps a lot. Whenever I finish with it, I'll have most of the items I need to feed him, I think. I already checked for things I have double of, and yeah I think I'm about halfway through most of them.

I focused on my wardrobe for a long time before I focused on anything else at all. I bought every single event item I could, even the dresses I knew I'd never wear. I would go to SubetaLodge at least once a week and buy up any item that I didn't have that was under whatever my limit was at the time (1k, 5k, 10k, et cetera) Aaaaaand now I use that same method for my hoard xD I'm buying retired items under 20k at the moment lol

Ahhh yes. My pets. About half of them I found in the pound, that's what started my phobia love. And I love sort of ironic names, too. Pyrophobia my reborn, Cibophobia my gourmand, Pacifist my battler. Automatonophobia is a fear of dolls, so he's my nostalgic clapping monkey, Aviatophobia is a fear of flying, so of course he has wings. Chionophobia is a fear of snow, so he's glacier, Myctophobia is the fear of the dark, he's going to be dark matter and Triskaidekaphobia, isn't as obvious, is fear of the number thirteen. He was my thirteenth pet. I actually had the massive nerve to send someone a message to ask if I could have him.

Well rewards are great motivators. Like the free beer, I don't think people would have donated 100 free beers if there wasn't some kind of reward for it. I know I wouldn't have. x:

I need to work on wishlisting food I don't have, it was only yesterday that I made those categories on my wishlist for needed food and books. I'll be vending at celebration gift today, since it gives mostly food. :3 then the long process of feeding my gourmand everything and I'll see how far I get. Hopefully it'll be a big boost.

The way I get items into my wardrobe is quests. If a quest asks for a wardrobe item I don't have I'll buy a second one for myself. It's even easier now that when you buy a wardrobe item you don't have you have to option to move it into the wardrobe right then and there.

I have coulrophobia (clowns) and entomophobia (bugs). Bugs is weird. Moths get me really bad and I know I'm being completely irrational, I know they can't hurt me, but I just shriek and freeze up until my husband smooshes them or releases them outside. I'm ashamed.

I keep wanting to make a list of books for Pacifist, but I've already got such HUGE wishlists I don't know if I'd break the site lol I'll probably still end up doing it some day when I'm bored.

Yeah, a little something as a motivator to do things is nice, but sometimes it's good to do things just to do them, you know? I frag all of my doubles instead of hoarding them or selling them, because it gets them out of the system. I feel like I'm doing something good, even when I accidentally frag SubQ for like a measly two or three crystals. I don't even look at the prices for the things I frag, since most of it I got from quests anyway.
