I've been bitten by the battling bug and would love a little help with my current set, especially when it comes to scrolls!
I know the weapons I have equipped are rather rubbish, I'm sort of waiting till I hit Tier 3 before spending lots(ish) on proper weapons, at the moment I rely on hitting opponents hard for two rounds with bombs then slog it out by healing... This is what I'm using ATM (don't laugh, said it was a rubbish set up):
Phoenix Quill Jewel Encrusted Quill Shinwas Healing Wine Pie Bomb x3 Tide Water Blaster Wand of Power
I'm looking for a scroll that can hit hard or potentially freeze, I can create up to level 3 scrolls but am having real trouble deciding what scroll to pair with my Elegy of Earth scroll which seems a great defence for 5 intel points). I've 7 alchemy points spare at the moment but happy to increase to whatever amount needed!
What would you suggest?
Personally I don't really use defensive scrolls on my smaller pets, but that might just be me :P I prefer stuff that deals damage or heals. A nice mix of those two would be the Singed Stuffing Scroll, which heals 4%hp and also deals some damage (and is infinite use), needs 7 AP to use. Then another scroll which I like is the Divine Denizhen Scroll, which heals 5%hp and defends a little bit of each element. If you're looking for a defensive scroll, I'd reccommend this one. It needs 7AP to use and is also unlimited use.
I don't know that much about scrolls that freeze, and I don't use any on my smaller pets. I think the better freezing scrolls are probably a bit expensive, then we're talking about Shriek of Despair and Psycho Smasher scrolls. Both have a negative heal and can only be used once in a battle. Former 15 AP, latter 16AP. I got the Gelaspell scroll this gelatin war, and I must say I really like it! It has a chance to freeze and deals some nice amount of damage! Can be used unlimited amount of times in a battle and requires 18AP. I wouldn't equip any of these scrolls to a smaller pet, simply because I'm too lazy to get enough intelligence to equip them, but also because they're so expensive that no starting battler would want to buy these.
Then also a nice scroll is the Morosbane Scroll. 15Ap, only once per battle, but it heals 300hp and deals 40 icons of damage. Very overpowered for small pets, since it's basically a full heal. Will probably become cheaper during morostide, as it was (used to be at least) a drop from the Nightlady. I wouldn't get this unless you have some nice unlimited use scroll first.
For some reason I really like the Stinging Swarm Scroll. 6 AP, unlimited use and does double the damage of the singed stuffing scroll. Maybe there are better alternatives, but I used this one because I won one =)
Anyways, for a complete list of scrolls I'll refer you to the Complete Scroll List version 2. There you can compare some more scrolls before you make a decision.
For weapons, take a look at the Weapon Guide, since I'm mostly just going to repeat what it sais if I would have to give weapon advice.
Edit: Unless you have a specific opponent that you're trying to beat, then we can see what weapons would work best against that one.
Thank you so much for your advice! I will eventually try to get Shriek & Despair but for now they are in the distant future of next year. Plus the negative healing would land me in trouble as I'm still trying to beat Muffin at battle 10.
Morosbane would be a great thing to have, bit of a waste on a low end fighter but it would be bloody fun to use! Someone mentioned that Nightlady would have a new drop this Morostide so I'm currently sulking. Not that I'd have chance to get one anyway but a small price deflate might possibly allow me to splurge.
Gelaspell sounds exactly what I had in mind... My eyes are bigger than my bank balance!
Hmmm, I think I'm probably trying to run before learning to walk and should just concentrate on getting Beta to T3 (already planning my new, better, rounded T3 set) and then just have a play with creating the scrolls I can and getting a feel for what works best for me.
Thank you again!
You're welcome! I forgot one scroll though! The one that Daemon drops on the 5th win also has a chance to freeze. I wasn't really impressed by its freezing capabilities, nor of its damage, so I never used it. But maybe it's worth a shot? It's called Poisonous Barrage and requires 7 AP
winter spirit does 9 water and 6 ice damage with 5% chance to freeze , uses 8 Alchemy Points .
Read everything to your pet. Even though you don't necessarily need the AP now, you will quickly grow into needing it.
The great thing about T3 is that there are lots of cheap weapons that are good.
Rreign Mace of Malice is just one example of a great T3 for under 10K. It was a staple for my 3s. You'll also want the shrines -- esp Apollonia, and soul stone.
I would definitely recommend getting a Replica Minotaur Knocker if you can. It's a scaling weapon, so you will be able to use it even as your pet grows, and it's pretty reasonably priced.
In tier three I used this set: Phoenix Quill Gold Clockwork Grenade Icy Freezing Rod of Doom Plasma Grenade Launcher Shinwas Heart Pendant Stinging Gauntlet Ruffie Healy Bones Shrine of Apollonia
The Pendant is a Cash Shop weapon, but you could easily replace it with the Knocker or even just swap it out for a bomb. The Launcher is the hardest hitter in tier 3 and will outpower most tier 4 weapons too. I think it's an Autumn MC item so you should be able to get it soon for about 500k. The PQuill is essential in higher tiers and I think it's a seasonal MC item, so if you have the sP I would definitely buy it before the stock rotates.
As far as scrolls are concerned, you're going to want to work your way up to a Terra Focujin which has a modest attack and heals 10%. Singed Stuffing is a great intermediate choice. Divine Denizhen is better in some situations, but you're better off saving the sP towards weapons (PQuill!) or the Terra Focujin. Also, if you have the sP, I would consider buying a Reborn Wand of Doom. It's part of the summer stock, and you'll need it to make a Reborn Icewand of Doom, which is the best tier 6/7 weapon you can get. If you try to buy it out of season, it will cost you at least twice what it does in the MC.
A rather lovely person sent me a couple of gift boxes containing wonderful T3 weapons so I'm currently playing with the below set:
I splurged earlier in the week on the PQuill as I clocked it would be soon gone from the MC and it has saved my hide repetitively in T1 & T2 battles! I'll def get the Launcher if it rotates into the MC. Ive been eyeing the Knocker... I think its my next big purchase, just need to get over the price (I loathe spending sP rolls eyes).
In theory if I clear out my shop till I could grab Reborn Wand of Doom. Ive been letting my till accumulate for the achievements and it would take me a year to get back up to the level its at now (I suck at RSing so rely on quest drops and vending). I guess I need to decide if I think Ill get to 6/7 before next summer rolls around...
Terra Focujin does seem to be the scroll I should aim for, Im taking advice and going to concentrate on getting Beta's intel up as fast as I can, I need to if I ever want to be able to create Terra Focujin and equip it. For the moment Im happy with the damage Torrential Slam does although I could lose Elegy of Earth as Im rarely using it, but it is the only defensive thing I've in my set ATM.
Nice looking set! :)
Reborn wand should be your first priority. You won't be able to get it agin until next summer and you'll want it this winter when you pick up it's colder twin. The combo RIWoD will be a staple for several tiers. I still use mine daily.
You can get the RMK (knocker) by completing the 2012 bbhead collection. Collecting all the 2010 heads gives you the trident. Anyway, it MAY be cheaper for you to get the bbheads rather than buying the RMK outright.
Congrats on the PQ! It's a weapon you'll use forever -- so it's a great investment. There's nothing like a 100% heal to give you a second wind. ;)
For what it's worth, RS hasn't ever made me as much sP as vending and/or questing. It has saved me sP for crafting ingredients -- so you might want to focus on that, or things like RS stuff for the next Pandemic. With your desire to focus on intel, the Book Nook is also worth stalking. Those are usually my RS priorities with everything else being gravy.
You are off to a great start and soooo much more savvy than I was when I was where you're at. I'm always here if you need help with anything. :)
Checked the bobble heads, they are currently running at just over 10mill so shops are cheaper at the moment for the RMK. I've taken everyone's advise and got the wand welp better to have it and not need it than get to the combo stage and need it. It will keep me focused over the winter... must hit tier 5 before spring!
