I've fought Gelashell a few times and have upgraded my spells and weapons. The last fight I almost had him -- he was down to 300 points when I died. I'm wondering if you guys can suggest any strategies with my weapons, or suggest new spells or weapons (preferably under 2 mil each - PekaBoo wiped me out! or cash shop or Recycle Beast items). I want to beat him at least once for the achievement. Thanks!!

My stats:

Level: 542 Strength: 1,351 Defense: 1,358 Speed: 1,356 Health: 1,351 HP: 1,246/1,351 Intelligence: 874

My weapons:

Shrine of Apollonia Malevolent Grimfruit Magical Love Duct Tape Soma Tablets Item Hunters Bomb Recycle Blaster The One Ring Azathoth Curled Bow

I also have these weapons that I could use:

Ol Blue Forj Tempered Kusarigama Mystical Star Shuriken Demonic Blade Dripping Gelatin Vial

And my spells are:

Terra Spire Singed Stuffing Telson Gigan Blow Baneful Sin Aquajhet Basalt Blast Almighty Squall

EDIT: I just bought a Twisted Rift Blade and am going to try that!

EDIT2: I don't know if was that weapon that did it, but I finally won! I'd still love tips from anyone so I can beat him another time or two, but for now I'm thrilled! :D

You Won! You have defeated Gelashell 1 time! Gelashell drops: Pointy Tortoise Shell Pumps Pointy Tortoise Shell Pumps Malevolence A. Verted earned 2500 EXP Points! You earned 20000 sP for beating Gelashell!

I haven't really been paying attention to what weapons gelashell uses, so I can't give very specific advice, but I'm going to try to give some general advice. One of my own pets is t8 which has a bit less stats than ours, and I've aslo seen other people beat the gelashell with a tier 7 pet, so your pet definitely has enough stats to beat him a couple of times.

Your weapon set has a lot of weapons which are good for the lower tiers, and it lacks some of the staples of the higher tiers. The higher tier weapons are unfortunately usually a bit more expensive. For example the Malevolent Grimfruit and Shrine of Apollonia are very good for their tier and for some tier(s) after, but by now you'd have more benefit if you'd find some percentage healers or weapons that can also block some icons while dealing damage. The twisted rift blade is much better suited to your tier, and so it'll help you get your wins =)

Gelashell likes to freeze a lot, so it helps a lot when you use blessings that protect you from being frozen. The Parched tear crystals and parched baguettes will help with this. (The shrine of apollonia also does, but still I think it's better to free up that space for another weapon and get some of the parched crystals instead. Since the shrine only lasts for so many rounds, and the crystals can activate on every round which make them better for longer battles)

As for some other weapons you might look into: The Rapier of Error doesn't heal you, and doesn't defend against anything, but it does a ton of damage, has a chance to freeze and has a nice curse. It's not so expensive, so it might be a nice addition to your set. A bit more expensive is the Purple Spider Squeaky Toy, but I kinda like that one. It heals some hp and has a curse.

I would take out the Shrine of Apollonia, Azathoth Curled Bow and Malevolent Grimfruit from your set, and replace them with the rapier of error, purple spider squeaky toy and the twisted rift blade, then mod the rift blade and spider toy (or whatever you pick as your main attackers) with at least one (maybe 2) parched crystals/baguettes (and maybe fill the rest of the slots with either a natural armor crystal which blocks stealing and gives some extra defense icons, or with a parched crystal which gives you an extra curse and some extra damage). That might not be the absolute best set against this challenger, but I think that'll improve your set a bit.

And maybe a phoenix quill will also help a bit. It heals more than the one ring with the hp you have now, but you can also use them together in one set and have a (almost) full heal twice in a battle.

What can I say but WOW and thank you!! I had no idea about the crystals. I took most of your advice and bought the rapier of error and added the crystals you suggested, plus I added crystals to the rest of my set. And I just won a second time, and it was almost easy! WOW! I'll keep going and see how many times I can beat him -- hopefully at least 5, since all he's dropping for me right now are junky shoes. Thank you again and I will definitely save up for the squeaky spider toy once I've sold some of the CSC cash cards in my shop. :)

You have defeated Gelashell 2 times! Gelashell drops: Pointy Tortoise Shell Pumps Pointy Tortoise Shell Pumps Malevolence A. Verted earned 2250 EXP Points! You earned 18000 sP for beating Gelashell!

EDIT, YAY!: You have defeated Gelashell 5 times! Gelashell drops: Gelashell Plushie Water Mage Amulet Water Mage Amulet Water Mage Amulet Malevolence A. Verted earned 1641 EXP Points! You earned 13122 sP for beating Gelashell!

Thank you! :D I'm back to fighting the minis now. Good luck with the jellies!

I'm curious -- Does extra experience do anything special for pets, or is that just bragging rights? Thanks!

You can use your experience points over here. You can buy stats with them so your pet grows faster than it would with training alone. That's why Battle Quests are realy nice, they provide your pet with new experience points every day when you complete them!

Good luck on the minis! I got my Gelatin Slayer yesterday! Now trying to beat the Gelatin Wizard a couple of times!

Holy! I have a LOT of experience points. I've NEVER spent them. I could give my battle pet an additional 1000 points in each stat (!!!) ... should I? Or should I keep saving them? I feel like I've stumbled onto a gold mine! Geez!!!

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I read that wrong, lol. Got too excited! I can buy few points in each anyway. I have nearly 80,000 exp points to spend. I may as well go ahead and spend them, I guess!

Congrats on getting the Gelatin Slayer! I'm only at 150 minis won (this is my first Gelatin War even though I've been on Subeta for a few years) so I won't get that this year, but I can get some more achievements anyway! Good luck with the Gelatin Wizard! I hope you're able to beat him a bunch of times!

Yeah, it sounds like that tier would be too low. I'm sorry. :(

I'm in the same boat as you, stumbled onto my exp points last year I think it was with thousands stored up, SO excited haha And this is also my first active gellie war even though I've been on for years. I just never really trained or used the battle aspect of the site until sometime last year, so when the last round of gellies hit, I tried to fight, but had no pets worthy :P It's been a ton of fun racking up the battle achs and finding how fun this side of the site can be! ^_^ I managed 15 wins on the golems so I'm happy! I'm hoping if I shake my battle set up a bit I'll be able to get a few more, maybe even hit the 25 mark. Good luck to ya and have fun!

The stats which you can buy with experience points keep getting more expensive when you go up in tiers, so it's a good idea to spend them before you go to a higher tier. This caps out at tier 10, so stats won't become more expensive after you hit tier 10. Then it doesn't matter when you use the experience up.

Ah, thank you! I wish I'd spent them a little earlier then, since I'm tier 9 now. Ah well. I just got a bunch of free stats, which is really nice! :) How did you do with the Gelatin Wizard?

I really like the battle side of this site, too! I used to play Neopets, and the battle stuff on here is SO much better. There's more incentive to train your pets, and more rewards. I'd definitely like to get into the battle aspect more! That's what I like about events like these - they get you familiar with other parts of the site, and it's a good opportunity to upgrade and level up. :) Good luck with the Golems and other jellies!

To compare, here are my stats when I first posted this, and after spending my exp points and using some vials and tomes for boosters:

BEFORE: Level: 542 Strength: 1,351 Defense: 1,358 Speed: 1,356 Health: 1,351 HP: 1,246/1,351 Intelligence: 874

NOW: Level: 554 Strength: 1,374 Defense: 1,372 Speed: 1,366 Health: 1,400 HP: 1,400/1,400 Intelligence: 884

Thanks to the anon who sent me a tome! I used it for a nice stats boost. :D

Thank you! :D Unfortunately, after beating him 6 times, Gelashell is MUCH harder now, I guess since he keeps getting more difficult with each turn. The extra stats aren't making a huge difference here, but I've been trying to get to 1500 even on all of them, and I'm thrilled to have a boost so I'll get there quicker! :)
