Hey guys, I'm not new to the virtual pet world, but I am new to this site. I played neopets a lot when I was young and I was getting all nostalgic and created a new one the other day. But I feel too old to be playing on there. So I heard this site was really great instead. (I originally wanted millsberry, but it's gone :( .. ) So does anyone have any tips on helping me get off on the right foot here?

Hi Welcome to Subeta :) I used to play Neopets a lot as well, as a lot of us here did. But Subeta is a lot nicer and more relaxed. Have a look at this guide here - just a basic on what to do. I've also listed some easy games and quests on my profile to make sP from.

Welcome! You won't feel too old here because the majority of users are college students, twenty-somethings, and even older people. There are a lot of users playing for nostalgia's sake and/or who've played Neopets. ^_^ My tips are to browse the forums, do Sarah's Quests, play games for easy sP, check out the freebies in the Donation Corner, and read the rules (they're a lot more relaxed than the Neopets ones).

Welcome to Subeta! I've never heard of Millsberry (it sounds kind of like a breakfast cereal brand haha) but I hope you like it here :)

I think you've already been given some useful hinters, but don't be a shy to ask for help if you need any. Lots of users here have played Neo or other such sites, so even if you ask things in Neopets terms, someone will get you ^__^

I actually do have a question. I see a lot of the avatars are wearing really cool outfits, like your avatar is really cool. But I can't find anything like what yours is wearing anywhere. Is there a certain shop I need to go to to change skin color and to purchase that type of clothing?

Some items are rarer than others, or are not restockable (eg. we have Seasonal shops, or special events that will give out prizes) Retired items here aren't as unobtainable as on Neo (generally speaking) - also there is a market here for Custom Clothing (where site Artists can submit items to become official). If you're interested in Custom Wearables (CWs for short) you can take a peek further down the forums for the Market boards, to see what everyone is up to. Those are more expensive.

There are plenty of cheap, nice wearables - but there's a lot of items here so you'll need a little time to find them :D You can have a play in So Fetch (a popular wardrobe gen, linked in my siggy) or in your wardrobe you under Clothing, you can select the dropdown 'All Clothing on Subeta' to see items you don't have and have a play c:

Just be sure to check the prices of items before getting too attached, as some items are SUPER RARE :P Some of the prices may seem crazy, but you'll find sP isn't too hard to make c:

If there's a specific item you see around, you can also look up the item info on Subetalodge.org (a fansite with a pretty good item database) :) Hope that helps a bit!

Hey, welcome to Subeta! I also come from Neopets, still have an account on there but I barely use it. I think I can safely say I'm a pure Subetan now, there are many more upsides to this site over Neopets. Good point with the trolls.

Anyway, enjoy your stay! Games and quests are a great way to start out.

I too used to roam Neopets, but once I got to know this place it wasn't hard to say bye bye to my Neopets account.

If you're curious about what people are wearing, you can also check their profile, some users, but not everyone, have an option enabled that shows what items they're wearing. My profile has it for example :). If you see an item with a yellow star in the top right corner it means that it's a custom wearable. The items without the star are official wearables. I stick to the official wearables as I don't have enough money for the custom ones lol.
