So today... I went to pick up a waiting parcel at the post office, assuming that it was going to be the figurine I ordered off of Ebay back in December. Instead, it was a gift from my friend, which after reading the card was revealed to be an early birthday gift. Now, I have nothing against gifts, but I'm not really sure how to feel about it.

This person and I have been friends since grade 5, (since 1990 something), and he knows full well what my likes and dislikes are. And yeah, I can understand giving something a joke present just for lolz, I myself have done it a few times in the past. Which, I'm assuming is what he did this time, as his gift was something from a series that I'm... Well, not at all a fan of, basically. He IS a bit of a troll sometimes, but this is different even for him.

I'm not one to regift something that is given to me, but I honestly have no use for the gift he gave me and I have no idea what to do with it. And I'd feel bad if I tried to sell it, so like...

Have any of you ever been in a similar situation? What would you do?

Honestly even if you didn't like it I'd keep it. He did take the time to buy it even if it was a joke present.

HAHAHAHAHA oh my god, I totally feel you over there! D: I'm no fan of MLP either (boyfriend and I HATE all the MLP series with a burning passion,) but back on topic, I sometimes get gifts I can't use, or even do not like AT ALL, there was a case I had that was similar to yours.

I usually keep gifts even if I don't want them, but I had one case where I knew someone who REALLY wanted it and even told me she would buy it from me. At the time, I was also thinking of what to get her for her birthday, and I was IRL broke so I just sent it to her as a gift. ;w;

I know some people frown about doing that -- but I appreciate the effort of the person who sent me the gift enough not to try selling it -- I'd much rather give it to someone who actually wants it than let it collect dust.

BUT, if it's something you feel he might ask you if you received it/still have it (who knows, maybe he wanted you to destroy it?) I'd keep the item. The one I sent as a gift is somewhat perishable (a perfume I really HATE -- perfumes volatilize off and lose their scent after a while,) which is why I had to send it right away.

I think part of him probably expected me to burn it rofl. Because honestly, I would. I can't fucking STAND MLP at all, I have no idea why he sent me this, even for a joke. orz But I guess I'll just keep it in the back of my display cabinet. She can hide behind Inuyasha in the corner of neglect. All of my IRL friends are hardcore bronies so all of them already have almost all of the figurines, and I don't know anyone here that would want it.

I spent the last half of my Christmas vacation with one of them, and ALL I heard about for the whole fucking week was "pony this pony that" and I just... Aughhhhhh. I mean this girl is the type of brony that lives, sleeps, and breathes ponies. And she can't accept the fact that I don't like the show or the franchise and continually tries to badger me into giving it another chance, and when I say no she gets insulting towards my tastes and stuff. Which, as you can imagine, doesn't help raise my opinion at all... She even told me she would get me into the series by drawing my favorite characters as ponies if she needed to, and I was like "no, that won't make me like ponies, that will just make me kill you."

Needless to say, I have had it up to here with ponies as it was, this did not help... //sigh I just can't get away. Just can't fucking get away. At all. ._. They're fucking everywhere.
