Ohgosh, I've dabbled in both of these since I was a kid, like 7 or so. I don't really play Yu-gi-oh anymore (kinda grew out of it as I got older) but the rest of my family still does so I hear all about it from time to time XD As for pokemon I've collected the cards since I was a kid, my original collection got stolen (those old 1990s prints ;A;) but my current collection spans about 8000 cards. It's kinda insane to sort or do anything with, or hell even move though.

Woah 8000 cards!? I only have about 180 haha :P Do you play the tcg or do you just collect them?

Off topic, I recently got a raquaza EX card in the pack that I bought :3

Lol yeah, it's taken years for me to get so many but I love them. I mostly just collect, though I do know how to play. Never really got too active in the tcg for pokemon though. It can be such a pain trying to keep up with the sets just to be able to play to begin with OTL

And nice pull, I love finding legendaries waiting around in packs w

I've dabbled in both. I recently found my Pokemon cards, but I'm in despair since I can't find any of my Yugioh cards. Found my brothers, but not mine. I had a ton of them... I remember when the first YGO movie came out--my grandma is in charge of a movie theater and sent me a giant stack of extra cards that they were giving out. Ended up with about 8 Blue Eyes Shining Dragons.....

I don't really collect the cards or play much anymore. On occasion, though very rarely, a couple of my friends and I might pull out our decks and just play around a little. I play on Dueling Network with some friends, but only them exclusively, since I don't think I could handle playing seriously with anyone.

That sounds like a really impressive collection. I recently dug out my brother's two inch binder of Pokemon cards, and I wish I still collected Pokemon/Yugioh cards myself. Getting back into it would be so difficult though, after so many years. =/

- I must confess and say that I prefer the animations over the game, as I'm a sucker for puzzles, strategies and whatnot. But the whole gameplay for the YGO and the concept for each deck are impressive. (not a fan of anything pokémon-related at all, sorry) I remember laughing at the monstruous tactics to summon Exodia, LOL.

- D-> I command you to come here and discuss the e%quisite subject.

I prefer the animations too. It's always more fun to watch strange things like children's card games get incorporated into strange puzzles. xD Loved the whole thing with the Paradox Brothers back in Duelist Kingdom, since that was new, and it wasn't just a typical card game. The art is pretty impressive too. Sure, it's obviously not the best, but it's pretty nice for a card game. (Kaiba's holograms must be pretty cool, though freaky, too)

Thanks, it's a hassle sometimes but totally worth it. I can't even fit all of the holo cards (A little over 700) in one binder OTL Yeah I can see how it would be a pain, there's been so many sets released, not to mention if you also want to go for starter decks and tins. It can be such a pain how stuff comes out and then in short order is just nowhere to be found, at least with pokemon. Yu-gi-oh that's not so bad with since quite a few of the cards end up useful with later sets or get reprinted but if you want the original releases- ouch. I've missed quite a few of the more recent sets myself and wouldn't be surprised if I never get my hands on them OTL All the older stuff is just really elusive. Also you have a fantastic UN.

Oh man, that's so impressive. I'd feel so satisfied if I had a collection like that, just flipping through them every now and then.

Hmm, now that I think about it, a lot of my siblings' Pokemon card collections are composed of Japanese versions of the cards. Once upon a time, my brother had the Ancient Mew card too, though I'm not sure if it was the first one with the error or the second, since he sold it...

Ahaha, it's so easy to just...splurge on cards once you get going at it, and on top of that, you have to get binders and such for them.. And I think the Yugioh TCG is more commonly played than Pokemon. Heck, I catch some of my friends playing it at school sometimes, which was just amazing to me, since I just wasn't expecting that to happen at my school, and it just made me want to get my hands on a deck even more. Wonder if my sister has any cards lying around...

Speaking of decks, do you have a designated Pokemon deck of sorts?

(Also, thank you! Your UN is terrific. <3)

It's very satisfying and I love doing just that, though right now they're all in storage so I can't. I also find sorting through them to put them in the binders satisfying too, and somehow calming despite it taking so long every time I get a new batch to put in.

Oh nice, I have a handful of Japanese cards myself, as well as a couple of other languages. A couple of French ones and I'm quite certain some Spanish ones and the rest I'm not even sure on. Even if it wasn't there error one that's pretty nice, I've always wanted to Ancient Mew but never gotten my hands on one. It's too bad he sold it though.

Oh gosh yeah, especially if you can find a place that gives a good deal on them too. There's a local shop in my town that sells holos for $2-$3 usually no matter what the actual rate for them is by demand and they're always in good condition too. It's so easy to go in there and leave with a bunch of new cards. Add in binders and pages for them- I don't want to think about how much that adds up to. Yu-gi-oh is definitely played more, it's pretty popular. It's cool to hear people are playing it in schools, at least at my school most people who played kinda hid it to avoid getting picked on for it. Though now they have a Yu-gi-oh club, run by my brother and his friend actually. You should go looking for those cards. //nodnod.

I don't really have a specific deck I play myself, though I tend to lean on using psychic types as the main pokemon and normals as the secondary type. Usually if I feel like playing I just pick a pokemon I feel like using and build a deck around it. What about you? (And thank you c: )

It's just the whole experience of going through a collection that you love. A wonderful experience. Frustrating to sort, but you still manage to love every moment of it, and in the end, the satisfaction makes up for it anyhow.

The corrected Ancient Mew is apparently super rare. I have no idea though. I do love the ones in other languages—it's interesting comparing how different they can be sometimes.

My sister was telling me about some game shop near her area that would hire people who know how to play Yugioh to teach other people and figure out how to play new games that are similar. It was nice seeing the giant YGO TCG area at ComicCon too.

A Yugioh club? QQ That sounds awesome, and very fun. /nerd I would go look for my cards, but...I've sort of been trying to hunt them down to years. I'm afraid my parents might've accidentally given them away? ;_; But that would confuse me so much, because they were with my Pokemon cards, and I found those............. Probably going to just go steal my sister's if she still has any, since I've already stolen my brother's. 8D

I never really had the patience to make Pokemon decks. I can do Yugioh, but not Pokemon. I DID have two decks that were given to me when I first started collecting. My sister's ex gave me his water deck and his fire/mixed deck. Similarly, he was the reason I actually started collecting Yugioh cards. He gave me a holo Blue Eyes for learning how to spell his name (clearly, I was really young. xD), followed by Yami's deck.

OMG, YU-GI-OH~ /fangirl Thanks ! It's an heresy for me to miss this topic!

I'm not really into Pokemon TCG, I've only watched the animation and never learned how to play the cards (although I had a Psychic deck, just like every kid of my age). Yu-Gi-Oh! is a totally different story... Love the anime, love the game, hate meta, hahaha! XD I'm quite a big fangirl of the anime (especially 5Ds and Duel Monsters), but I also play the TCG. My favourite decks are Chaos, Psychic, Fish Synchro, Debris Hime, and basically anything that allows me to bring Stardust or Black Luster Soldier, hahaha.

Some of you were wondering if people play more YGO than Pokemon? Well, it's true, since Yu-Gi-Oh! is the most played card game in the world. Seriously. It's a Guiness Book record. I would search for the especific number right now, but I'm quite on a rush, so I edit this when I'm back.

I've had two books filled with Pokémon cards since I was a little kid. Before school almost every day, I tried to buy a pack of Pokémon cards. c': And at my cousin's Christmas fair when we were kids, we found a stall with a huge box stuffed with cards and got nearly all of them. The dude sold them for such little money, aw yiss. Aaand other than that, when people find out I still have my cards and like Pokémon, they tend to give me their old ones. c; I also recently purchased some new ones (Gen V) with my boyfriend for some battlin' alongside our B/W2s. c:

I have a box of YGO cards, but I never had many of those. I spent all my money on Pokémon merchandise.

I used to buy Pokemon cards, have one big binder full of mostly gen1&2 style cards. I don't buy them much now because I have no other need for them since I don't really play the game at all. Though the TCGO looks pretty neat.

I have maybe a largy baggy of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, but I left those at a friends house so long ago I don't believe they have them anymore.

I played the Pokemon TCG for the past two years competitively. I stopped because I wasn't able to afford it anymore, and neither was my friend, who played with me. Their new online TCG system also doesn't work on my computer.

We're thinking about starting up again when the series cuts off at the point where we have to start fresh with all new cards. At the moment we still can't afford to play, but hopefully by that point we will. We had a lot of fun traveling around our state for pre-releases and competitions. It was always a mini adventure/road trip for us. It sounded cool whenever we were leaving for somewhere, but not many of our friends knew it was for Pokemon TCG lol.
