I beat Pete with quite a few pets in your range. They had way less intelligence, so you should be better off.

I used I honestly never needed anything else. I didn't even use the scroll on every pet, though it did help.

None of those are really super cheap or anything, but they are all very useful.

What weapons/scrolls do you have already?

Is pretty decent. Also may want to get a Perilous Whirlpool scroll for extra healing.

I beat him with a pet that has stats at 400-410, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Perilous Whirlpool doesn't heal. Do you mean something else?

has a 10% chance to freeze (which is decent, as you can use it infinitely in battle), and is cheap.

I like using this at times with my pets as it increases your strength every time you use it! It's cheap, too. It doesn't heal though, so you need a way to heal yourself when/if you get low. Phoenix Quill is something you will likely use forever in battling, so despite it's price, it's definitely something you will want to invest in.

I've defeated Pete 10x pretty easily with a tier 4 using the following set:

Shinwas temple shard Shrine of Apollonia Gorgun Malevolent grimfruit Phoenix quill Banana katana Rainbow quill Amulet of Drakkonis

For potions, I used regenerating pylonic, death shard, fire shard, and light shard.

For scrolls, I just used divine denizhen.

I know you got a lot of responses but I figured since I beat him 10 times with a tier 4 (400 even stats practically) pet I'd toss my set out there too.

My default set is: plus some Dark [element] Potions.

Obviously not the best set because Pete can do a decent block against the ice bow with his apron but he wasn't hard to beat with only 400 health.

Really what I did was I smacked him with the grenade and the crossbow. If the crossbow didn't break I smacked him with the crossbow and pipe, if I got to the point somewhere in the battle that it did break I would use the pipe and ice bow. I always checked the champion scroll and then if there was ever a point that I was low on health I'd use a quill, attacker, and a Dark Magma Potion or Dark Light Potion or whichever kind of potion my fingers tapped at first.

You don't need an amazing set to beat him, just some healers, an attacker or two that does some decent icons (I know that he does have some defend against Ol Blue which was suggested above but I don't think he defends against the Massequerade) and maybe a scroll that heals and a potion that does a few extra icons of damage.

No not really. You get loot and experience up until the 10th win so it's basically just maxing out the exp and prizes (and battle loot is pretty good for fragging!) other than that there's nothing really special about getting to 10.
