My god, that sounds angsty, doesn't it? My apologies.

My name is Dragon. I roleplayed on (insert jaws theme music here) Neopets for close to ten years. I got every 'dream pet' that I wanted, and two weeks after getting my last (a gorgeous Mara Krawk) - I got chain frozen. Every single account was just - gone.

Now, don't misunderstand me. I'm over the loss of Neopets. The site had been going downhill for years. However, ALL my character profiles, stories, world development was wiped along with my accounts.

I know I should have had back-up on my computer, but I also didn't expect TNT to wipe all my accounts without reason. I'd never even received a warning from them.

So I came to Subeta a couple months ago. I've been on and off, ever since. I like my pets. I like the fact that I can customize my HA and RP with her as well, but I'm just so...well, depressed.

It's hard to try and pick up the pieces of my old characters, try and learn how to navigate new coding stuff (I was never very good) and integrate myself into the RPing community.

So any thoughts? Suggestions on how to get back in the game? Sympathy hugs? I'd like to jump back in the game, but I feel like my wings have been clipped!

I'm afraid all I can give you is a big and warm sympathy hug.

/Hugs./

I hope that eventually you'll be able to gather all the pieces back together, and get a good hard kick from the RP muse (well, if such thing exists), so you'll be able to jump right into the roleplay section of the forums. Bestest of luck to you!

Good luck. :) If you like small groups, I think you're in luck. That seems to be [relatively] easy to find. Large groups seem to fall apart easily here, and I'm not sure about 1x1. I'm too picky to really bother looking anymore.

If you want a patient partner who will help you redevelop all of your characters, feel free to give me a poke. I'd love to roleplay with you and help you get back into the groove. And I'll also chat with you and help you redevelop your characters if you wanna do that, too. :)

, Hey, I needed that, so thank you! I'll pray to the RP Muses. ;)

, I prefer small groups, actually. Large groups are hard to organize, but on the other side of things, I would have to REALLY like a person's characters and writing style to commit to a 1x1.

, I'm really far from being able to roleplay, like I'm still on sketches. Nora (my glacier magnus) is the only pet/character that I am, for certainty, keeping. But I have no idea if I want to create a world, use a fan fic. world or try and roleplay "in" subeta, whatever that is. Would you be opposed to becoming friends? I'm very unassuming. You'll probably almost never hear from me. You know, until I'm ready to try roleplaying. ^.^

I'd love to be your friend. You can contact me over Subeta anytime. I'll help you talk things through and flesh things out, or just chat. :) I'd love to lend a helping hand in any way possible.

Best reason to convert from Neopetism to Subetaism - SUBETA PEOPLE ARE AWESOME.

<3 I can't thank you enough, . I'll work on my character(s) and I'll get back to you when I'm more prepared. May be a couple weeks, but I'll be in contact. :D

Sure thing! And seriously, I'm here for you if you just want to brainstorm or rant or whatever. It doesn't have to just be roleplay.

Aw, I'm sorry. That really sucks. I remember when I used to role play on Neopets, years ago. I was constantly getting suspended, often for reasons I didn't understand. One time I got suspended over a typo. I had a character named Nutik and I accidentally left of the K at the end of his name, so it read Nuti, which Neopets thought meant like... Nudey, nude, naked, etc. I guess. I was so ticked about that one, like "FFFUUUU I didn't even break a rule that time!!! D:"

I imagine it's only gotten worse. I only ever pop on there for the Altador Cup anymore. Last time I discovered what it means to be "silenced," thankfully just because it happened to someone else that I witnessed. New one on me! They'd added that in my absence.

On the plus side, Subeta's rules are nowhere near as strict. You can talk about practically anything on here. Whereas you could hardly discuss the weather without getting in trouble on Neopets. xD

Been there, done that friend, ahaha. I remember roleplaying my pets on Neopets... one in particular, a Zafara (they were my favorite species on that site, haa), and he had an oh-so riveting story (or at least I thought so, for my young mind to comprehend) and everything. The very day I finally purchased the paint brush to make him fire, my account was frozen. No notice, no idea why. Just frozen.

Needless to say, my younger mindset was shocked and all sorts of sad. I withdrew from Neopets, tried roleplaying elsewhere and failed miserably. It wasn't until I came to Subeta that I realized I could try again, start anew, especially with the different (and in my opinion, much better looking) pet species and color options. I'd miss my old character, but with this opportunity to begin on a new slate, I quickly had muse rushing throughout my system. I now stand with eleven pets, and although I still have to do stories for eight of them, they're open for roleplay and overall I'm in a much better position than I ever was on Neopets.

Long story short, take the loss as a chance to try something new, make something new, in a new and improved environment. Soon you'll be wondering why you hadn't migrated here sooner. ;p

, Neo went wrong when Donna and Adam sold out. The rules, Neo-economy and community went to shit after that. OMG, I CAN CURSE HERE. ;)

, Your journey sounds extremely similar to mine, which is encouraging. It'll take me a little time to 'mourn' those characters but I'll get back on my feet. And I'm starting to look at the whole thing as a good thing. If Neo hadn't ever chain iced me, I never would have found Subeta. The artists here, both literary and otherwise, seem to be of higher quality, which is great. I'm currently getting my Masters in fiction, and...the typical Neo Rper could not keep up. That does not seem to be the case on Subeta. Yay!

I know, isn't it so fucking great to be able to speak freely? :P I mostly just like it because I know I won't accidentally say something I don't think is obscene that will still get me in trouble.

First of all, sympathy hug! I know exactly how it feels to lose everything you've accumulated over several months or even years. The loss and slight depression you feel is rather normal, in my opinion. However, there comes a point when you need to move on from that which I'm sure you'll find in your own time.

As for accumulating the willpower to forge new characters and pages - keep at it. I think creation (and the process thereof) is the most fun part about any form of art. Starting anew can seem daunting and horrible at first, but can also be refreshing. You can always take your old characters and add a new twist, or better yet - make a completely new set that is unfettered by pretenses of characters past. I, myself, have gone through a slough of various characters, and in a way I still do. It's nothing bad, all apart of finding what you like and don't like, and then meeting people to write with if you still want to rp.

I know it feels discouraging, but letting that best you is worse than what any amount of lost data can do. ):

Well, yes, hugs all around : How did the chain freeze start? Tnt has been vicious the past couple years, I've noticed. Not complaining, as I've essentially quit (check in every couple months to deter the inevitable wiping of my account). I'm very sorry to hear that, but just remember; inspiration is never completely erased even if all your written work is; You still have it all in your head, it just may take some time to get around to putting it in words :3 And though I've never RP'd on subeta, the people here are exceptionally friendly. I think part of it is that the site isn't treated as if we're all a bunch of children; helps the atmosphere, you know? If you'd ever like some art or anything, give me a holler :)

So neopets screwed you, did it?

Listen, as you can see from this wonderful support on here, you're not alone. I also had my own little realm of creativity and accomplishments on neopets at one point. It was the renovation and the pet look change that revolted me and ultimately led me to try other things, before abandoning neopets altogether once their filter system went hardcore, and defying TNT became more important to me than actually enjoying their shit.

My advice - embrace newer, more adult fields. Go find a good, active role play community (I'm sorry but the one here, as far as I can see, is too quiet and hardly experienced.) Try see what it's like to write about humans and human problems. The drama and intrigue and depth you'll discover will blow your mind. It was certainly a miraculous change for me.

and ,

Haven't been ignoring y'all. I just couldn't load anything until today! Glad to see the site seems to be getting back on its feet again.

MissingNo, I may seriously hit you up for some art later. As I mentioned before, Nora is the only character who I'm reviving. I think I'll start fresh with the others, but I couldn't draw a stick figure to save my life. Nora's a great, big white dragon with blue eyes and a bad temper. A seriously bad temper. But she's so much fun to play with. The biggest thing I have to decide, is what Daughter_of_Yahweh was talking about - what setting I'm going to put my characters in.

I don't want to write about real humans and real human problems. I'm in a very competitive MFA program. It's great, because I have professors who have won pretty prestigious literary awards invested in my first novel, helping me get it ready to send to publishing houses. So I have a serious, hardcore writing schedule, but I RP to let off steam, you know? I mean, I need to be able to just get on, NOT think and write a fun character with some fun people. I don't give a shit about the RP writing being 'good.' I have to worry about 'good' writing all the time! It's exhausting. So I'm okay that the RP community on Subeta is a little quiet. I think Subeta is just what I'm looking for.

I apologize if this post made me seem like an arrogant prick. Trust me, I'm a nobody with a dinky little book that's no good. (But I might be somebody, someday! You know, like three or four years down the line and 7 or 8 drafts later...hahaha)

Oh but I totally understand what you mean by using RP to let off steam, and not have to THINK hard in order to get good writing out. I'm the same way, it's why I'm no longer interested in making a full-time career out of my writing, what little I do of it these days.
