MANCO! I swear I've been wanting to change his name since shortly after I made him XD as much as I liked it, it didn't fit him.
Zhaoka, created back when I first joined Subeta on March 12th, 2009, has finally got a new name. Originally named for Rufftoon's (on dA) Water Tribe comic, I'd always hoped to get the name 'Zhao' for him, but that opportunity never came up and the more antsy I got to change his name as he's not a fanpet =S
Then he ended up in Pistola's story (a spaghetti western inspired story taking place in The Darkside), soon joined by Swapnil, and though technically Swapnil's name doesn't fit the western bit, it sounds like it fits The Darkside, Zhaoka stood out like a sore thumb.
But now he's Manco! Named after Clint Eastwood's character in For A Few Dollars More, one of my all time favourite films! =D I was debating between Manco and Monco, as both versions are used in the film, but I think Manco is the more appropriate... and it sounds better anyway. I totally didn't breathe when I searched to see if the name was free XD
Celebrate with me! rolls around in relief at finally changing his name
(Bleh, now his overlay needs redoing XD Art update on the Hydrus Telenine now please? ;))
Woo, that's a good one! obligingly celebrates wait, we need champagne, or something. Or something less girly.
How many movies did you have to go through on imdb? 8D
I'll break out the whiskey! That's manly right?
It means 'one handed' or there abouts...
According to wiki
In the English-dubbed version of the film, Eastwood's character is said to "go by the name of 'Manco.'"[8] "Manco" is a Portuguese/Spanish word that means "one-armed" and "lame of one hand" in Spanish and "hand cripple" in Portuguese (Portugal), but "limp" in Brazil; Eastwood's character performs nearly all actions using only his left hand, to leave free his right hand, with which he draws. His behavior thus bears a joking resemblance to that of a one-armed man.
Er I went through... Death Rides a Horse The Big Gundown God's Gun Had a glance at Escape from New York but only in passing... Thought about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and The Stranger and The Gunslinger but didn't actually look up the names... I think I looked at one more... But I'm not sure if I did or not... anyway then I ended up at For A Few Dollars More =P Which I think I'll watch tonight.
Dude anything named in honor of Clint Eastwood is 4EVA WIN.
I was an extra in A Perfect World when I was a little kid. I met him on set, as he was the director as well as starring in the film. He is legit the coolest guy in the world.
You win the internets.
It was luck of the draw. Who'll give me a name first, Eastwood or Van Cleef? but Van Cleef gets awesome character names while don't suit my character apparently XD not that I'm in anyway complaining about a lil smidge of Eastwood getting into the story there.
ASIDGF Seriously envying you right now D= that's so cool!
Thank you! But you just blew me out of the water with having met him!
Uh... I guess? doesn't really drink Yeah, sounds manly enough P=
hey, nice additional meaning is nicee! ...Manco swings his sword one handed? How come? Just because?
This movie is something I should go watch, right? P=
Yeah.. I don't drink much myself == Tea and celebratory scones? Man I would do a lot for some decent scones right now ;;
He just always has =| but since that's a bad explanation I'm going to say it's because nominally he's right handed, but doesn't want to kill with the same hand he used to write with -- since he liked to write about things he studied, little insects, birds, plants... and on some level doesn't want to mix that side of himself with the violent side Merana dragged out of him.
Well I think it's a good film =P Not quite as serious as the first one XD but you don't need to watch both, they don't follow on from each other. The bad guy is a weird one for me, I think it's really interesting we're left to make up our own minds about him as he seems to be tormented over this one thing he did but nothing else, most films, at least more modern ones, would probably have one of the protagonists explain it P=
I got really lucky XD They were filming in Austin where I lived at the time and my friend's mom hooked me up. One of the scenes had me running down the street from behind the camera and the assistant director dept forgetting to cue me so Clint Eastwood stepped in and reminded him. Then he complimented me on my costume. It was a trick-or-treating scene and I was dressed up as a fairy princess. He said 'your ballerina costume is lovely!' So of course I said 'Excuse me, I am a FAIRY PRINCESS.' And my mom was just off-set and I could see her cover her face with her hands XD But he was totally cool about it, he asked me to show him the difference so I showed him my crown and wand and twirled around for him. He was soooooo nice. I didn't realize who he was at the time, he looked a lot different because he was wearing a cap and jeans and he wasn't made up or anything. Later my mom was like WHY DID YOU TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO THAT WAS. Lol but he was so cool.
Congrats on the new name c:
Drunk people I know make my skin crawl, as a matter of fact. =_=
Tea? Deal! ...would you believe I had to google 'scone' because I didn't really know what that is? I'll take cheese-and-pickles sandwich ._. (...ok, I've just found this and it's weirdly awesome...rather looks like it would eat ME though)
Let me just get through my exams and i'll get started on some westerns P=
/'s story just cracked me up, you go girl! xD
Okay yeah that made me laugh childish, but it still doesn't not suit my character XD (that's him all over on first thing in the morning).
Thank you!
That's the best 'thing I did as a kid' story I ever heard =O your poor mum XD I can imagine how she was feeling, but idk I think it's awesome how you reacted.
I have a friend who really gets on my nerves when she's drunk =_= she's so loud and over the top...
Dude that is awesome! However I'm not fond of cheese and pickle sandwiches D= so you can eat the tiny alligator XD
What exams have you got coming up next?
Oh wow now that is so epic! Congrats to you. ;D Very very awesome!
Thank you =D Hopefully this means he will get an updated story now XD
Well, it has to be...the right kind of pickle. Salty one. It always confuses me how there is no different word for salty and vinegar ones, they are totally different! (eternal rant. yes I like pickles so what) I guess it's all because my grandpa used to do these prettily diced appetizer-like sandwiches for me... nostalgia
Materials and biochemistry, both tomorrow...which is just not sane.
Manco made me think of Man Co. Like, man company. The manliest company on earth. xD;; Congratulations!
Can I ask a shameless self-serving question? After you changed the name, was there another confirmation page or just an "are you sure" pop-up or was it instant? x)
✿ [flower=Griffin]
Thanks ^^ It was instant, I expected another page but nope -- straight back to the pet page with the new name.
- Eee! New pet names! Awesome choice, and I'm echoing everyone else's Clint Eastwood is awesome sentiment! :)
