I just watched The Hunger Games for the first time. I've read the book, but I really wasn't expecting the movie to be very good. I actually didn't like the book that much, but the movie was surprisingly good. The acting was good, and the costuming/scenery, etc were also pretty awesome. Randomly, their wolf/dog things were also pretty good, which was actually kind of impressive, when you look at other movies that came out about the same time where stuff like that is terrible.

What did you guys think of this movie? Are you looking forward to their being more of them? Did you read all of the books first?

Did the movie follow the book well enough? Was it what you were expecting?

I'm going to move this over into the Literature section, since the books came out before the movie. And seeing as there's a handful of threads already for both the books and movie, please be careful - it could be considered a duplicate but I'm not going to take that step yet.

I actually really loved both the books and the movies. They were both really good. I really enjoyed the costuming, particularly the Capital.

I've read all the books first yes:) I really enjoyed the books and the movie:) the scenery and costumes were really good! But I think there are some quite importan details missins in the movie.. I think the movie Isn't so good if you have not read the books first.

I first watched the movie in my Philosophy class (my teacher was teaching us some of these things like reality shows and media) and then I read all three books. For me, the first book is the best. The movie is good but missed some details.

I really enjoyed the first book. The second two were...OK. By the third I felt like she'd just run out of steam entirely.

The movie was OK. I was annoyed by how rushed it felt, and frankly, I didn't like the fact that they were so...cushy...about the violence. And oh god at the shaky camera!

i read all the books and i like the first book the best. i wasn't thrilled with the way the third book ended. i did enjoy the movie but i feel that in order to watch it you really should have read the book first. there was a guy sitting behind me in the theater that kept asking his daughter what was going on. sooooo annoying :(

I heard mixed reviews about the book and largely good ones about the movie except that in some places it wasn't true to the book. I also heard a lot that it was overrated though; is it really that good of a read and view?

the book/series is a good read. just note that this trilogy is what i call a thinking book; it makes the reader think, esp with how the world now is shaping up. and the movie is good too. Both can stand separately or together. (I found watching the movie a second time helps). either way, there's no one opinion other than your own.
some people find the aspect of the book/movie a bit gruesome for the age in which most places place the item (ie movie in kids' section); there's a lot of death in the books and movie. so up to you.
it's something you can't unread or unsee.

i didn't like the ending of the third book, but there wasn't any other way for it end.
