Hypno-Monocle Vs. Protective Sage: Difference?

I know hypno-monocle decreases the chance of being hexed. Does protective sage also decrease the chance or is it a 100% protection against hexes? If the former, does wearing both of them further decrease your chance of being hexed?

The sage also decreases your chance, wearing them both does not stack from what I've heard so no it's not a 100% chance unfortunately.

I believe - others correct me if I'm wrong - the sage decreases your chance of being hexed more so than the monocle. I've had my sage since it was first released and I wouldn't sell it to save my life - well, I probably would if my life depended on it, but it would be the least of all things I would get rid of. o_O :D
