Hello to all my fellow Subeta players! I hope everyone is enjoying their Morostide, I definitely know I am! In less than two weeks, I will be starting up a new round of Subeta Mole. I hosted this once before a few years ago and had a lot of success. For those who have never heard of The Mole before, I recommend checking out this wiki page for how it has been done in the past in different countries.

After Morositde is over, I will begin the challenges on November 2nd. I want to give people time to focus on the events on site first and not have to worry about playing my game, plus my birthday is on the 31st... and I'd rather wait until that has passed too. :P

Sign-Up and Players Registration, per the rules of the forum, will be open to everyone on the site. In order to sign up, just answer the Questionnaire below. Registration is being extended to allow for more players to join. The new deadline is 11:59pm EST on October 31st. Due to low initial response, instead of a random draw, the first 12 players to ask to sign up will be automatically entered. There will be 1 Mole chosen at random from all the applicants. I will also be running a Viewer's Contest along with the main game for people that don't want to play the full game, but still play along with a few challenges.

How Long Is The Game? This game will last three weeks. If everything runs according to plan, the final reveal and prizes will be handed out on Thanksgiving (US). The game only works when people actually participate, so please don't sign up if you know you won't have the time.

Format The game follows a pretty simple format. About three times a week, I will post a challenge. It is up to the players to organize themselves, ping each other, and work together to solve the challenge. Each challenge gives you the opportunity to add money to the Prize Pot. But the Mole’s job is to make sure you fail your tasks and don’t add anything to the Prize Pot.

The challenges I have planned are diverse. Some are short and timed, some take a long time, some involve teamwork, some involve betrayal ... you just have to take each challenge as it comes. Regardless of the outcome, after each challenge is a mandatory quiz.

Everyone will have 24 hours to answer the quiz about who they think the Mole is. The person with the lowest quiz score will be eliminated from the game. The Mole cannot be eliminated and does not take the quizzes. Each quiz will have an extra question used for tie-breakers that will only be used if two or more players tie with the lowest score. If this tie-breaker fails, the person who submitted their answers to me last will be eliminated. Failure to submit answers for the quiz at all is an automatic elimination.

The final challenge will be held when we have three players left, and the final quiz will determine who is the Winner, who is the Runner-Up, and who is the Mole.

Prize Pot As mentioned above, each challenge has a chance to add to a Prize Pot. If every challenge is won, a total of 15mil sP could be given away to the winner, in addition to item prizes and maybe even some CSC Yes, really. The Runner-Up will win a prize equal to 10% of the Prize Pot. In addition to the Prize Pot for the winner, many chances for prizes and items can be won along the way. Donations for prizes will be accepted for both this and the Viewer’s Contest. The Mole will also receive compensation for their role in the game.

- Absolutely! The viewers get to guess who they think the Mole is based on what they see happening, but can also play in some of the challenges as well. I'll have a lot more detail on those games after the Main Game starts. But I need people to sign up to play it first. XD

- I will have a thread for the viewers that goes into more detail posted when the competition starts, but I can definitely give you some info now.

You don't have to sign up to be able to play in the Viewer competition. Certain challenges along the way will be trivia based, or involve participation of people that aren't part of the main competition. These challenges will have prizes with them for viewers. Like the first person to mail me a 100% correct answer for a trivia challenge wins 50k or an item from their wishlist, or something like that. Each challenge will have different conditions to win.

As a viewer, you could win a prize even if the challenge is failed, but the prizes will be much smaller. I will also give out a much bigger prize to the viewer who takes all the quizzes at the same time as the players and gets the highest score by the end of the competition. I'm thinking it will be around 1mil sP or something like that.

I would like to be a viewer then, is there a ping group I should join?

Considering I only have 3 people signed up after a few days... I think I might lower the number of players to 11 players with 1 Mole. This will shorter the competition to 3 weeks instead of the originally intended 4. I'm hoping that a shorter length of competition makes it easier for people to participate.

By shortening the competition though, this also lowers the total possible prize amount, because there will be less challenges involved... but, yeah. If not many sign up, I can't run it at all. : /

I think I'd like to join, but I'm a new member and I'm not so sure if I would be any good at this game, haha! Maybe I won't be active enough or maybe I just will be terrible... Would it be okay for a newer member to play?

- Absolutely, I'd love to get new players on board! Some challenges are more difficult than others, and some players will be better at solving them then others. I know I have a few that don't require any knowledge of Subeta at all, some that require a lot, and a few luck based ones too. There will be about 3 challenges a week, and technically you don't have to participate in all of them (some require everyone to pass though...), and as long as you can mail me with quiz answers after a challenge is over within 24 hours, you could very well end up making it pretty far in the game.

The last time I hosted the game, we had a player who ended up coming in 6th place out of 14 original players and wasn't always available due to her job to play in the challenges. A lot of people thought this player was the Mole early on because they never showed up on time, or showed up after the challenge was won/lost. Because they were wrong about their guess, they got eliminated before this one player.

You are more than welcome to give it a shot, you never know how you'd do. Plus, I'd feel great giving out expensive prizes to a new player. :D

I should also mention that you'll get to know the other players while the game is going on, so you could make some good friends, and you'll learn a lot about Subeta too. :D

I've extended the registration for the game by a few days. If I cannot get 12 people to sign up, I'll keep pushing registration back by about a week. If this causes someone who has signed up to be unavailable, please let me know. I will not run the game over the December holiday period, so if if comes to it, I will delay starting the game until January if I have to keep pushing it back that far.

Just wanted to ping everyone that's expressed interest that I'll be trying this again in January. I can't seem to drum up the interest to play just yet, but maybe I will at a different time of year. I'll be using a few suggestions I've had to try to advertise for the game, including putting links in my sig-line, banners, and exploring the option of posting comments about the game in forums (if that's allowed) with much more traffic than this sub-forum.

Thank you guys for posting and for those of you who have signed up. I apologize that I cannot run the game with so few people. Consider yourselves on my giftbombing list for Luminaire though. :)
