heroin junkie type? Think the movie "Requiem for a Dream" kind of story. I've got ideas for treasure chest items, but there are so many species/color combinations and none seemed to particularly strike me... I glanced through steampunk looking for something sharp/needle related, but nothing caught my eye. So, any ideas?

I'm not familiar with Requiem for a Dream so I looked up the plot online. I don't know that I really got much from it! But anyway, these are the species/color ideas that jumped to mind when I read "heroin junkie": Bloodred darkonite, bloodred malticorn, bloodred torrey, glacier irion, glacier torrey, steamwork manchu, hydrus popoko, hydrus ruffie.

There are a lot of graveyard pets that could fit well for a junkie. Same goes for nightmare pets like the or maybe some bloodred pets like the (the image isn't showing up for me but it's a bloodred lain).

I super-agree on the graveyard pets. The fester might work, especially since Requiem for a Dream often depicted the characters as predatory, deranged, and desperate, kind of like this crazy vulture:
