Is it possible to use paypal with a simple debit card? If so, can you please walk me through how to sign up? I can't get a damn credit card yet. :(

Yeah, I made the account. I'm trying to register my bank information, except I'm having problems with my bank transit number. I have a four digit number instead of a five digit...which makes no sense. :(

Are you in a different country? Have you made sure to change your country to reflect that if so?

Yeah I'm in Canada. I've selected Canada off the drop-down list and it still is asking for a five digit number.

Is there maybe a place previously on your account information that you didn't put that? Can you go back and edit your personal info and see if it's wrong there? That dropdown menu is on the same page right?

Or can you try going to paypal.ca?

Well, every time I go to paypal.ca...it automatically switches over to .com at some point. I've found it doesn't make a huge difference either way. It says everything is Canadian, yet it is still asking me for a five digit number. :x

I did some googling and it seems to suggest you either add a 1 to the end, or a 0 to the front.

The key is the "location digit" of your transit number which, for whatever reason, usually does not show up in the 4-digit transit number of TD Canada Trust. E.g. if your transit number shown in Easyweb or your cheque is 4567, and your branch is located in Montreal, then your FULL transit number should read 45671.

In a Canadian bank transit number, the last digit of the branch number, with few exceptions, indicates the geographical location of the branch.

Branch numbers ending with:

0 are located in British Columbia 1 are located in Western Québec including Montreal and surrounding area 2 are located in Ontario including Toronto and surrounding area 3 are located in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland excluding Labrador 4 are located in New Brunswick 5 are located in Eastern Québec including Labrador 6 are located in Eastern Ontario including Ottawa and surrounding area 7 are located in Manitoba and North-Western Ontario 8 are located in Saskatchewan 9 are located in Alberta
