gathers courage Okay, so, this is my first attempt at a CW, please be gentle! ^_^;

I decided to try to make a CW of one of my kitties (especially as her coloring is very appropriate for this time of year). I'm not really satisfied with how it came out, but I'm unsure of how to go about fixing it. Help, please?

I know there's probably a lot of things that need fixing - in particular, I'm not happy about the loss of detail, but I'm not sure how to change it without either making her lighter or bigger. If I make her lighter, I'm worried she'll look too gray - she's a very pretty chocolatey black IRL, and I want to keep that as much as possible. And she's a smaller kitty, so I'd rather not make her too much bigger if I don't have to. The eyes especially are bothering me - you can hardly see the eye that's open, and having the other shut is making it worse, I think, but they don't look good if I try to make them bigger, and if both eyes are open, it doesn't look as much like she's rubbing against the HA's leg.

And I'm sure I could use help with anatomy and shading, too, as I'm not stellar at either (especially trying to shade fur, gah).

I know how that goes. That second pic of Isis you have up, is that her tongue or does she have a toy or something in her mouth ? Anyway i hope i'll be online and will be able to nab a slot when you get ready to take them :)

That's her tongue, lol. I was trying to get nice pictures of her and I somehow caught her with her tongue fully extended. XD

Aww, thank you. ❤️ She is! She was a wild cat that adopted us this year, and having her around and making friends with her has been amazing (as you can see by the pose I picked, she's not so wild anymore, heh ❤️ ).

Hehe, it was a total accident. She was grooming herself after eating, but I swear her tongue was in her mouth when I pressed the button! It startled me a bit when I saw how it came out. XD

Oh good god, that's adorable and so is your kitty! >w<! No artist either, but holy. Do want! ❤️ I have a kitty too who was once semi-feral. The mother was domesticated but the kittens weren't and they were already 6 months old. So it took some time to tame her and stuff, but now she's the biggest darn suck ever. ❤️ And undoubtedly, here's a tongue shot that I just had to share. xD

That's great, I'm glad you were able to make friends (I love that tongue shot, haha)! Isis actually went into heat in January, a couple days after we started feeding her. We saw a male and thought she was probably pregnant, but it got around to the due date and she didn't seem to be acting too differently, was still spending a lot of time hanging around the porch and yard, etc, and weeks later, there were still no sign of kittens anywhere. We had just about decided she either hadn't had any, or they had all died, and were going to try to catch her so we could get her fixed. Then one day I walked past the pump house, and saw her behind it with a bunch of furry tails disappearing inside! I put out some food, waited a little ways away with a camera, and got pictures of some adorable kittens. ❤

Once they were old enough to be without mom, we caught them all up, got Isis spayed, and I started working on taming the kittens. They're pretty friendly now. We found homes for two, this pretty girl still needs one (I haven't been trying super hard because there are a few complications to sort out once she leaves that we haven't been able to deal with yet), and this is Finn, the silly boy I decided to keep.

And look at me, going off into cat stories in a thread for art critique, lol. XD;

Awwwww, such a cute little pile of fluff balls! ❤️ Such cute kitties you have, such pretty blue eyes, too. :3 If it were me, I'd just keep her, as well. xD I have two cats of my own. The other one was a rescue cat who was abused by her previous owner. When I first got her, she was very twitchy, and flinched every time, and did not like attention. But over the past year, she now is forceful about pets and gets in your face meowing and demanding attention. She still sometimes flinches from hands, but not nearly as bad as at first. I'm trying to find a normal picture to show but I lack my phone with me right now so I'm browsing my Facebook and here's the best I can find. xD Here's another picture of my other kitty that I giggle at. She loves sitting under lamps. >w<

Well, it's for a tribute to your cat, it kind of ties in... Right? xD I can go into so many stories about my cats and their crazy antics, just one mention of cat, and it's like, BAM. Sotry time. c:

But back onto topic, I think the anatomy of it looks good. For the colouring, maybe try making it more of a darker brown instead of black? Not quite black, but almost, maybe that way it could help with lightening it up a bit, considering when light hits the fur you can clearly see it's brown, not black. x3 And for the eyes... maybe a bit brighter for the green so they stand out more? I'm really not sure what to suggest for that. That's probably the best I can suggest for it since I'm learning as well how to shade and colour things acceptable for Subeta. :c
