So I've been wondering about the items and and their retirement for a while, was it a mistake? These items are used in the scrolls and and out of all the items used to make scrolls in the Secluded Shrine they are the only retired ones. It just seems very odd imo.

I am sure it wasn't a mistake. It was done to increase the price of the sancturia exodin scroll.

These items have been retired for some time, so I doubt it was an error.

Perhaps can confirm this, though. (I was unable to locate a news post on these items stating they were retiring). :)

Is it the same reason STS , Subetaball , etc were retired , idk but i didnt see a newspost regarding their retirements & of certain books from book shop i.e. :(

I'm pretty sure they were retired for a specific purpose of bumping up their value and were retired quite some time ago.

Since this doesn't appear to be a glitch, I am going to go ahead and lock this thread now.
