Defense is good not quite as much for the fact that it helps your weapons block more icons with anything that has finite defense (ex.: Divine denizhen scroll, Malerias cursed arm bangle), but it also helps reduce the chance of critical hits from your opponent.

yea i thought the higher the def the lower the hit points over the weapons block but i just saw that is not the case. so i was thinking not to use exp and boosters any more on my defense

It is still worth it IMO. Every bit of defense helps to reduce the likelihood of critical hits, which is what I think the stat is best for. Not to mention that if you use MCAB, then it does help to reduce further damage. Plus, Prodigy Staff becomes more likely to fully block fire at 2000+ defense. Plus, with a revamp coming up, defense may have even more use than it already does.

you will have to decide for yourself if you want to keep training def. Every battler will have their own opinion on it and we all know opinions are like armpits....everyone has them and they usually stink.
My own stinky opinion would be to train it to at least the 2k mark, but it depends on the battle,, the battler and the weapons you are using. Like if you are using full blocks then def isn't as much as a big deal as it would if it only blocking a certain amount of something.
well how i have been doing it was defense / strength build with exp and booster health / speed train with trainer as i sit now is strength /defense are just over 100 points ea. higher than speed /health working so far lol but i thought sense def was not working as i thought i would start putting all exp on strength and let health and speed catch up to defense then just train it with trainer.
if that makes sense to you lol

If a crit is determined by speed vs defense, and I could care less to crit, wouldn't I just want to train lvl, str, def, and health?
The reason because your pet at 340 defense and your pet at 1600 defense recieved the same damage is because you used :
If you had used a mcab, the damahe dealt would have been different
Defense works like strength, I'm not sure the formula is the same, but defense boosts are either higher than strength's or the same. The BC just doesn't have any good shields atm.. even if the top pet were to use a warplate

Like Insane said, the reason you didn't see much of a difference is because you blocked all or nothing of an attack.
If you only block some of the icons, you'll see a difference. For example...
Both against Oslyae the Amazonian Montre (my favorite challenger! ^_^). She has a Strength of 200. It's both of their first time against her, and I made sure there weren't any critical hits on the turn I recorded.
First attempt with Tayama, who has a Defense of 100
Attempt 2 with Rob, who has a Defense of 15
Not really sure why Rob kept getting different results. I was only using the MCAB, and the attack and the defense didn't change. Criticals hit in the 20's, so it wasn't that. Figured it out, my blessing tear was activating and I wasn't paying attention.
So it does really make a difference. Even though it LOOKS like I'm blocking equal or more icons then she's dealing, because her strength is higher then my pets' defenses, some is getting through. The lower the defense, the more that slipped through.

[edit] because I am out of date. haha
Like said, you def and strength should work the same way.
As for what stat is the most important, I have always believed health is. I personally would never have a pet with lower health than def or strength. I think most people are the same way. I don;t know how the revamp will affect def/str/health/speed, but for now heath is what you need to worry about the most.
Please no.. That list is the old one. It doesn't work like that anymore, remember? It's dynamic now, each points counts.
I did some maths once, (to figure out how to best train a pet on a 22k stat limit) and came up with this :
Strength - DPI 1000 - 7.45 2000 - 10.5 3000 - 12.9 4000 - 14.9 5000 - 16.6 6000 - 18.2 7000 - 19.7 8000 - 21 9000 - 22.35 10000 - 23.56 22000 - 35 45000 - 50
[edit] Those are not boosts by the way.. but it's approx how much damage per icon you should do at those milestones. I calculated 45k because it's Recycle Beast's boost at how many wins I am at (just imagine critical hits), and 22k is if you had a capped pet with strength only

Are you serious. When the hell did they change it to each point? Well now you know how much I pay attention to shit around here. LoL
Well.. when was the revamp? 2010 or something? or late 2009? Well, it's been that long.

That would be 2010. That battle news page has been stuck at 2010 every since. LoL See it everyday i go to do BQ,s, but forgot all about that attempt at a revamp. :(
Oops, sorry to have derailed your thread my mind started wondering. LoL
It fixed some things but other problems arised. The BC isn't quite the same, average pets were a lot smaller back then and staff had to adapt to the fast growing pace.
