I just realised that after all that worrying about this year, seeing as the last year of school was horrible, deciding to leave and go to college was the best decision I've probably ever made. I was really nervous about it because I didn't think I'd make friends or fit in, but things are much, much better than I expected.

I have a group of lovely friends, who yeah, took a while to find, because I was absolutely terrified to talk to people. I started off hanging round with a group of lovely people, however, it was such a large group, I barely spoke cause I was so nervous. So I started trying other ways to try talking to people without scaring myself to death and looking like an idiot, and it worked :) I'm not super confident, and I don't think I ever will be, but I'm a lot better, and a lot happier now.

I have some kind of idea of what I want to do with my life, although I'm not sure I'll get the grades I need to get there (the summer exams were pretty tough). But hey, it keeps me focused till results day, and I'll just work things out from then. No point worrying right now, I need to relax for a bit, haha.

But yeah. Sorry for the long wall of text but I just wanted to get that out. I'm sure I'll have lots of confusing sentances to correct more to add in the morning when I'm not half asleep haha :D

Good to hear that you decided to go to college! It's always good to get a higher education. I loved college so much that I went on to grad school! :D Ok I was kind of being sarcastic there, but I did have a great 4 years of undergrad.

I remember freshman year was a bit scary too for me in the beginning. This was the first time in my life I would be living away from home and didn't know anyone. It was very overwhelming and a lot to take in. The important thing to remember is that you're not the only one that feels the same way and it's very easy to make friends with other freshman because they are also looking for new friends. After the first month I was adjusted and ok with things. I love living away from home now, I'm probably only home for a few weeks out of the year now. College is a great experience to help you mature as a person.

That's great to hear that you've been having such a good time and year! Big groups of people can be incredibly intimidating for a lot of people, so good for you for finding other ways to make friends and sticking with it! I'm glad that you're a lot better and happier and it definitely sounds like you're going in the right direction wtih everything. :)

Yeah it's my first year :) I have one more year to go, then I hope to go to university. Thanks :3

If I get into uni September after next, I'll have another three years in education. But I'm kinda glad for that, I have no idea what I'd do if I didn't go. It's hard to get a job in dog training round here, which is what I want to do. Or at least something animal related. I'm still living at home at the moment, which is one of the reasons I decided to go to this college instead of moving away to a bigger university. Hoping it will lessen the shock of living on campus around strangers when I do move away haha. I'm looking forward to it though :)

I agree, I'm enjoying the freedom! The tutors encourage us to be a lot more independent with studying too and I love that. I didn't really like the rigid structure and rules of school. Thanks :D Your avatar is awesome :3

Thank you :3

Omg. Yes. I hate how school was so "organised". I went to a private school so I had to wear uniform and they were very strict on things like "YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BADGE ON OR YOU GET A UNIFORM INFRINGEMENT. If you get three of them - you get a detention!". Thank god there is none of that anymore. xD

have you considered becoming a vet? It's weird living away from home in the beginning, but you get used to it after a while. you'll like being away from home once you get used to having your freedom

Yeah, uniform was a pain :/ The smallest thing that wasn't exactly right and the teachers went mad lol. I like being able to wear my own clothes now, but I remember one morning at the start, when I wasn't really paying attention and out of habit, I nearly put a shirt on haha.

I have thought about it :3 I do half a days work experience every week at a vets and I really enjoy it. The only thing is, I tend to faint sometimes and we don't know why. It's not the gory operations, cause I can sit through them quite easily, but at just random times. The doctor said it's probably low blood pressure and the only advice she gave was to wiggle my toes, which made no difference lol. So I don't really know. I'd love to do that kind of job if that didn't happen. I think I'm going to do an Animal Behaviour course at uni, cause I help out at dog training classes and love it. Also, psychology is really interesting.

Have you asked your doctor about the fainting? Did they make a recommendation?

If animal behavior is something you really like, then it's good that you are pursuing it. I just hope you are not limiting yourself to different options because of the fainting =/

Yeah, wasn't helpful at all. :/ She just said to wiggle my toes, and that didn't do anything except make me even less steady on my feet lol.

It's hard, cause I agree, I don't want to be limited because of it, but I think I should do a degree which can lead to a variety of jobs, just in case it didn't work out, and then I wouldn't be stuck there. It rarely happens when I'm at dog training, even though I'm stood up for up to an hour and a half at a time. I guess I walk around a bit more than at the vets though, that probably makes a difference. Can't really have a wander round the operating theatre during surgery lol.

I'm just an assistant at the moment, I help teach in obedience classes :) If I had the confidence (and ability to talk loudly lol) I'd take my own class. But it's not paid, so it's not something I could do as a job, only as experience to help me get a job. I'd love to train dogs for Guide Dogs or something similar but it's hard to get into.

Oh god, the idea of making friends terrifies me. I'd been at school with the same people for so long, I'd forgotten how do it and I was never any good at it in the first place. Luckily, it's fairly easy at university but I worry about having to do it again when I get a job.

Yay, snap :D

Thank you :)

Same here lol. It can be scary though, especially if you don't know anyone at all yet. I'm more confident about moving away now that I've already done the new friends thing once now :P
