So, I found a way to make pretty shiny opaly..stuff. This is really rough, I haven't sanded it down yet. It's a combination of opalescent powders of two colours (purple and blue) + a light amount of aqua dye in clear resin, with "shredded" opalescent translucent glitter.

The only problem is that this glitter comes in very small tubes at a time... and shipping makes it very expensive to keep buying tiny little tubes. Does anyone know a nice place I could buy shredded "ice" type glitter?

Oooh, pretty! Hmm, I don't know of any specific place to buy the glitter in larger sizes. Some quick googling turned up this place, although it's hard to say if it's exactly what you need.

That is awesome. If you ever start selling them, please let me know!! And I don't know if you have one in your area (you could possibly order online?) but Crafts 2000 carries a bunch of glitter and resin and things like that for good prices.

Afraid that isn't, really. x) What I use is a form of very largely "cut" (shredded) glitter.

I certainly will. (: Once I start casting a bit more I'll probably be putting them up on Etsy. Time being, I don't have the time to cast that much. Afraid I don't have one in my area, but I'll poke about online and see. The place I've been ordering from is nice (and the glitter's cheap,) but they have I think a $15 minimum to actually ship... xD; which actually kinda sucks.

I'm also not exactally sure what you're looking for, maybe post something or the brand that you're currently using so we could get a better idea what you're looking for but I found this.

Well, the problem is there isn't a brand on the container or anything. [x] And I bought it here.

It's a really nice store, but I'd love to find a place that has glitter in larger containers, and that doesn't have a minimum checkout cost. :< I was only trying to buy a round resin mold when I went, and wound up buying two molds, three colours of glitter, and some extra mold release just to meet the minimum cost to checkout, haha.

Believe me, if I could buy a massive jar of this stuff, I would.

Per that site's pricing, if you order 32 of the little tubes you actually get a 1 pound bag with better pricing ($16 as I read it).

Sixteen dollars isn't that bad for a 1 pound bag of glitter at all, especially since it's "special glitter". That's the price this site has listed for similar product (can't tell if it's quite the same).

And the regular (tiny/fine) glitter I found by the pound was 10 bucks, pretty close considering they're pretty different products seemingly.

Edit: Didn't notice the bit about the checkout minimum (and I can't seem to find what it is on their site) but that's pretty common for wholesalers. It's a trade-off to get the bulk pricing.

I...really? Derp. Wow. I can't believe I overlooked that. o_o Looks like I'll be buying from that site from now on, then, haha.

I -think- the minimum was $15, but I don't remember off the top of my head. The opal idea just kinda came to me when I was looking over the "snow" glitter, haha... I have all sorts of shimmery metallic powders, so I figured I should find something to use them for.
