to be honest i just unfroze my account just to ask you guys if you know anything that may help me ahaha.

so i'm way too compulsive. this includes smoking and eating.

i don't usually eat that much but sometimes i begin eating like crazy. i guess i just went from 50kg to 53 in like three days or something like that lol. it's not like if i really had a disorder or anything. i just... i don't even know why i do this crap, it's just ridiculous, and still i do nothing about it. i guess i eat a cookie and i say "alright i'll eat just one" and then i get back and eat another one, then i get whatever is on the fridge and eat it. i feel so silly posting this ahaha

so wanted to know if you have any "tips" or ideas of anything i should do instead of eating when i shouldnt be eating. something like a substitute, i guess?

I quit smoking about a year ago, so I can understand your dilemma from an "oral fixation" point of view. Personally I found gum to be extremely helpful. If you're already chewing on something, you're less likely to want to grab food. Also, it'll sound silly, but always have water on hand. Also, doing things that keep your hands busy is always a bonus - besides, the more preoccupied your mind is, the less likely you are to snack. Besides a few helpful tricks, it really is mostly about self-control. Good luck. =)

I used to binge eat a lot at night...like I'd just grab a bag of chips and mindlessly eat the whole bag, it was not good. For starters I'd make sure you're eating enough throughout the day so it's not a hunger issue. Then, if you're eating snacky food, if possible I would try to just not keep snacks in the house, or very few. If you're living with family/other people I realize this may be difficult but for me if it's not in the house then I don't eat it, and I can decide if I'm actually hungry enough to make something to eat or if I was just looking for munchies.

Not sure if this will help much, good luck with it!

i have a similar problem where if i'm bored and unoccupied i'll go and try to find something to eat or snack on but ironically i'm underweight so for me it isn't so much as a weight problem but a health problem, as i don't have the most amazing diet ever

i would recommend what narceu suggested, to chew gum and keep yourself occupied with something, be it video games, work, hobbies, etc. also like the idea of keeping less snacks around that may encourage the binge eating, since you'll know it's there and it'll be tempting

however, if you still have trouble with the compulsive eating even with those tips, i'd suggest maybe instead of grabbing cookies or chips you could perhaps instead grab healthier food items like fruits, veggies, nuts, or even rice cakes? i would still hope you try your best with preventing it, but while you're working on it you could maybe help yourself and munch on some more nutritional stuff c:

best of luck!!
