If there's people you want to block, sending you gifts with messages is the one way that they're still able to contact you so I guess some people do it so the people they've blocked can't find a way round it.

It can't be that many people that have done it because of that though, so I'm not sure of other reasons.

My personal reasons are that im actually quite awkward at receiving gifts and always feel like im supposed to react in a certain way and if i don't, ill end up disappointing the person with my reaction or something, so id rather someone I don't know doesn't send me anything to begin with, saves me angsting and saves them sp i guess?

i can understand it..if anyone tries to break through rudely to a person through this method..but it DOES hurt to not be able to send someone things with fun notes attached..perhaps those who need to express power more..like road ragers??feel power in NOT letting anyone send hem gifts??

i know if i could i would turn OFF the accepting anonymous gifts one!! because i do not send them nor like to recieve them without being able to thank someone for them as WELL as READ into the notes attached~as WHO they are from oft makes QUITE a difference in understanding the notes:)

I don't really get it either (I mean even nasty messages have an item with them that I can sell for at least 1 sP shrugs) but each to their own I guess?

I don't see the point in sending a gift to say something rude. You still get an item and know that they took effort to get it to you? Win/win IMO.

As to the topic at hand, I have no freaking clue why anyone would refuse a gift but if yall figure it out, let me know!

For me, it has nothing to do with wanting to 'block' people; I just dislike receiving gifts. Mainly I don't like the sense of obligation that comes with them. I can never work out how I'm "supposed" to respond to gifts - sometimes people get pissy if you don't display proper gratitude, but not everyone has the same idea of what 'proper gratitude' entails and I can well do without the hassle of trying to figure that out.

A side-benefit is that I feel free to moan publicly about the stuff I don't have without worrying that people will think I'm fishing for handouts (examples from the past couple of days: moaning about the price of potions, moaning that SBQ items I'd turned into Chase got retired before I'd had a chance to stock them back again...). Evidently I like moaning more than I like free stuff.

I don't like expensive gifts either, makes me feel like I owe that person something. Which is terrible when it's sent anonymously !

I'm not that maniac though, so I didn't enable that thing. It's useful to let people send you things when you lend items often.

I have gifts blocked from non-buddies. If you don't like it, if you think I'm rude or on a power trip, that's your problem -_-
