This is a very unhappy complaint about the lack of local co-op or split screen modes in recent games. I own the new SSX game and we rented Dead Island and there is multiplayer online for both, but we can't just plug in two controllers and play split screen. And I just looked up the new Dead Space game and it's got no local co-op either. This is bullshit! What is the deal with games completely ignoring co-op? There is nothing better than playing on the couch with friends. Anyone else run into this problem lately? Does anyone else feel my pain?
100% feeling your pain. I hate playing alone, I hate online multiplayer crap but there's nothing that I enjoy more than playing co-op with my sister/bff so every awesome game lacking local co-op is like a kick in the nuts for me.
My exact problem! Like I can deal with singleplayer but if there is any opportunity at all to play with someone else it's about one million times more fun. Playing through a game with my sis or just a friend is such a great experience. And nobody is willing to offer it. :C
Ugh, I'm going through this same problem with trying to find games to play with my boyfriend. I even bought Dead Space 3 just to play with him and haven't touched it since I found out no split-screen.
I think it might be hardware limitations though. Rendering the same screen twice has got to be taxing, and I'm sure devs don't want to take away from their game to make split-screen possible. They all push for online now anyway, cause that's where they think the money is.
That is what I read when I did some anger-research about SSX co-op, the graphics are too intense to render twice for split-screen. It's super disappointing. I like the nice graphics, I just wish they could push local co-op as much as they did online multiplayer. But you're right, they just go where they think the money is. Wise words.
