So I'm working on a painted dog couple... But I need some advice. Because of all the different colors, my shading looks messy... Any idea on how to solve this? And if you have other ideas/suggestions on how to make this better, I'd love to hear them.

They look great! To be honest, i would just go ahead and submit and see if they still accept it. Those dogs have this pattern so it wouldn't make sense to force something different onto them and i think the shading is still pretty decent.

I would have suggested to make the black lines on the body a little more transparent so its less distracting, but i think this would somehow take away the wow effect on them.

Add some darker shadow to the white hind leg where it intersects the white shoulder of the dog lying down. They are kind-of melding together there. Maybe add some darker shading to the tail and rump of the standing dog to draw the eye down to the face of the dog lying down. The brighter colors of the standing dog's tail and rump draw attention away from the dogs' faces.

Also, can I pre-claim a slot for these beautiful African Wild Dogs? =3 If not, please ping me when they are released!

EDIT: I would also add a slight highlight to the chin of the standing dog so t doesn't meld with the rest of it's neck, similar to your canine companion on your HA. :)

i am bad at shading, but i would have alittle suggestion. maybe drawing them that they look as they would look into the same direction.

not flipping, just changing the head as they would "stare" to the same point. and i would change the standing dog (when possible) becasue i adore the lying one face :D

Honestly, I'm having trouble telling the difference between the two updates you posted, but I think they both look better than the first overlay. Now that they're lighter I can see the details on the face much better. :)

Very cool dogs! I think you've really captured their look nicely. :) I like the first of the updated version better than the second--the second just looks a little too dark to me.

I like the first revisioned one better, but I think you could make it even better if you defined the lines better where they meet. They still melt a little together at that point.

These guys are gorgeous!!! I think you are really close with the shading as the coloring is so unique! Just the separation between the two needs to be a bit more distinct is all. Lovely!

I like the first versions faces the best. I think you should darken the face on the standing dog because, for some strange reason, I think the head looks a little off on the standing dog when it's lighter in color. The one lying down looks good either way. But I like the overall shading of the third one the best.
