Can I just get some clarification on the game?

When I first started playing a couple weeks ago (I use easy mode), a card would be shown, and I'd go through the nine cards trying to find the match. If I did, the card face up would change for the next match. However the past week when I play, the card that is face up changes with every guess. So if it's the pink bear (sorry, don't know pet type names yet), and I click a card and the horse comes up, the bear changes, the horse flips over and now I'm trying to find a different card than the bear. Is this is actual way the game is supposed to work? Because it made more sense when the face up card stayed the same until I found the match to it.

Yes, it's intentional. I guess it originally worked like that and they changed it back because it's easier to win that way (though trickier to get used to)
