Yeah, I'm a nerd.
I have a NDSL and it's kinda... broken. The top is a bit flimsy when you open the NDSL. The hinge broke I guess. Very common I guess.
Any ideas?
Ping me please so I can respond to your messages~! <3
Yea, it's pretty common. If it bothers you, simply fold up a piece of paper and stick it in between to hold the screen open and secure.
If it's not working at all, then your best bet's to buy another one. You can typically find a regular DS (What I use) or a DS Lite for $5-10 at a pawn shop or at places like Gamestop if you're lucky.
My first DS Lite lasted for a while, but eventually the hinge cracked. Played it for several months until a piece finally fell out of the hinge. Then I played for another month or so until the entire top disconnected on that side, and was only held on by the other hinge. The section with the power light was threatening to rip off as well. :( So I bought a new one.
You can probably last a few more months on it if you're careful, but eventually the strain of the screen's weight on that hinge (and the strain of opening/closing it) will make it worse. I mean, I'm as careful as can be with my game systems, and it was so weird that it broke just from normal use. :
I think the regular DS is much much more sturdy and durable than the DS Lite. My sister still has hers and it goes everywhere with her. :)
yeah the ds lites are cheap nowadays when they lowered 3ds so much and the dsi are cheap too. guess they are for pokemon players :P
The sound on mine goes all weird unless I open the screen at just the right angle. :( I like my DSLite, so being extra gentle with it so I don't make it worse...
and yeah the dsl is kinda easy to broke off the upper screen, the holdings are weak.. but then I abused mine a bit too much :P
