So I have a huge Ant problem in my house. At first they were on the floor, around the walls, but now they are everywhere!

We tried to get rid of them once, but its hard since we have kittens, and they like to play with everything. :(

Anyways, does anybody know any safer means of getting rid of the ants?

Bug bombs ftw. But you have to take the kittens outside while you do it. For like, hours. I dunno if they work for ants though, I haven't used one of those in years.

If your kittens go outside or you have other outdoor animals or small children, locate the ant hills and pour a significant amount of boiling water in them. If you don't have outdoor animals or small children, locate the ant hills and pour a bit of gasoline or an equal mixture of bleach and ammonia into the hills. This should kill the queen. Killing the queen is the most effective way to kill a colony.

I agree.

There's also the insect chalk that you can line around the areas they walk on to. and the potential holes that they get in

Insect chalk? Thats kinda neat.

We vacuumed a few times and they come back. The house that my bf bought is super old and all the floor boards aren't properly lined and what not. They are coming in from the floor.

I already destroyed one any hill, but I haven't found any others. I'm afraid that its somewhere under the deck where we have no access too right now.

I don't think bug bombs work on them? The previous owners said they bombed...but they could have lied about that..

There might be special bombs just for ants. You should look into it.

Maybe. I'll have to take a trip to Aco tomorrow.

I already cleaned everything that was on the counter from earlier today. My boyfriend isn't the cleanest person to live with D:

Ahhh Thank you for the links. I'm going to check them out now :)

Thank you, that link was very helpful and now I remember some things my aunt and grandma have told me about bay leaves and peppermint oil, both of which I have on hand :)

I don't have a phobia of bugs, I just don't want them in the house. My bigger problems are spiders, centipedes and ants.

Hahaha, yea I like butterfly's too ^^

I have a ton of those fake lady bugs, but I only see them briefly since the kittens destroy them once they spot them flying through the house.

Anytime I had ant problems I would scatter plain dry oatmeal (just a can of quaker oats works) and let them carry it off. They don't stay around long after you lay out oats.

Thank you :) I think I have a battle plan for the ants. One that'll destroy them and hopefully won't intrigue the kittens D:

I've heard cornstarch works. The ants can't digest it so they die. I have ants in my bathroom and put some cornstarch down but it hasn't worked yet, so I'm not too sure about it
