You should be able to qualify for one, especially since you have a child. And I would think you would have qualified for cash assistance too. Maybe reapply? The lady at the office I applied for cash assistance at said I couldn't get it because I don't have a child (at which point we started discussing how cats should be considered children, but that's beside the point, lol) and she said that pretty much anyone supporting a child on their own can get it. She made it seem like that was the only qualification.

I've had food stamps for like, a year. I also have WIC, which is probably cut anyway. I'll find out tomorrow.

I had cash assistance before I started working, but they never provided me with transportation, so I wasn't able to attend their classes for 20 hours a week. I also got it two weeks before I started working, so yeah.

There are quite a few church programs to help people keep food on the table, try contacting Salvation Army as well. Hopefully there's some help from that direction even if it means having to sit through sermons to get the aid.

I'm soo sorry to hear about this. I'm in the same position, I'm out of work. Luckily my parents are here to help me though. Try giving your parents a call. Or ask your neighbors if they can help you in these times of trouble with things like food. The country is going to shit right now. I'm sure there are some organizations out there who are able to help with such things. I don't know which ones though, sorry.
