I see a lot of users with pets born merely months ago have levels in the actual level or, say, health, strength, and the like into the thousands. How do you do it? I see plenty of pets with decent beginner stats and then few users have pets that just explode into quadruple stats within weeks. I was told people use the auto-train feature but it has been weeks doing that and my pet has just breached a triple digit. Is it luck based or is there something I am missing?

Lots of people Autotrain their pets constantly, some massive boost (meaning they spend millions and millions on boosters) Battling and using the battle eggs on smaller pets helps. Keeping a weaker pet as your active pet also allows you to gain free stats from the random event + Oracle. Battle Questing also helps cause you get more EXP that way too.

Autotraining is a big way of that (you can get a newly created pet to tier 2 in less than a week that way), though not too many people go from beginner stats to 1K+ evens in less than a month. The few people that do accomplish that use a lot of stat boosters. Battle quests can add up after a while too.
