So I decided to try and make my own My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic card game. (Yes, I know there's an official one :P but mine is different.) It's gonna be a reduce-the-opponent's-HP-to-zero game in the vein of Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon, but in one shared deck like Killer Bunnies. I'm looking for suggestions for cards to include, and I'm still trying to decide whether to include status conditions, but I do want to keep coin-flipping for Spells to a minimum. EDIT: I've decided to include the status conditions Shrunk, Disabled, and Confused. Shrunk decreases attack power, Disable is just like Paralysis in Pokemon (lose an attack turn for that Spellcaster), and Confused works a lot like in Pokemon.

There are five categories of cards: Spellcaster, Item, Mana, Location, and Combo. Spellcaster cards are characters from the show, divided into five elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Magic) and six classifications (Earth Pony, Pegasus, Unicorn, Alicorn, Dragon, and Villain). Each Spellcaster has one or two Spells they can cast to have different effects, most notably damage. The object of the game is to defeat your opponent's Spellcasters by reducing their HP to 0 (I haven't figured out precise win conditions yet).

Items are cards you use that give a certain effect depending on the card. There are two types: Objects, which you use once and discard, and Equipment, which you attach to a Spellcaster. Some Items have different effects when used on different kinds of Spellcasters, and some Items can only be used on certain kinds of Spellcasters. (For example, the Elements of Harmony will be Equipment that can only be attached to their respective ponies).

Mana work in a similar way to Mana in Magic and Energy in Pokemon: each Spell costs a certain amount of Mana in certain types in order to cast. Each player has their own Mana Pool, and they must tap Mana from their Mana pool in order to cast a Spell. All of a player's Mana untaps when their turn ends.

Location cards work a lot like Stadium cards in Pokemon: each one has a different effect on the play field, and only one can be in play at a time. The main difference is that at the beginning of the game, a random Location card must be played to start the game, and there must always be a Location card in play.

Combo cards are one-time-use cards that you can only play if you have the required cards in your hand. To play a Combo card, you show your opponent the Combo card and the required cards from your hand, perform the action described on the Combo card, then discard the required cards and the Combo card. You can only play a Combo card once per turn, and you can't play a Combo card if you played one during your last turn.

Do you guys have any feedback or suggestions? Please let me know! :)
