Problem: Way too many awesome pet colours on site and not enough spaces to hold them. Possibly resorting to changing current pet(s) to other species for other new colours or changing colour of a current specie to different colour

Solution: monthly pet slots

I know pets are a big thing on here otherwise it wouldn't be a pet site. I've read so many times over in news comments that people want these new colours but can't as they don't have anymore space. So it got me thinking, what about monthly pet slots? You can get 8 additional slots a month (number to be determined) but it'd still fall under the same rules - must have a GA and slots must be purchased. This way people have a chance on getting all the awesome pets they want and the site makes money. It's nothing but win win.

If you don't buy the max amount of pets in a month the remaining amount won't be carried over. It just gives you that option each month to get extra pets if you so choose.

If people wind up taking what may be considered "awesome" names and the pet(s) aren't worked on well what can you do? It happens all the time anyway so it's nothing new nor is it preventable

Eight new slots seems a random and very high number. One extra per month might be okay but I don't think we need eight slots. I also don't know if I agree about it being every month, being at set intervals like maybe every four months might work out better and not be so much overload on people's wallets.

Honestly I'm fine where things are now but I haven't hit my limit yet so this wouldn't really affect me in any way right now.

I agree with Seerow in that eight pet slots seems like an unnaturally high number, especially if one were to get that number every month. I do agree that some of the gold account perks might need to be re-worked but I tend to think we get a pretty large amount of pet slots through either loyalty or cash shop as is.

So theoretically you could end up with 100+ pets within a year? I think that's pushing it.

1 doesn't seem like enough. 2-3 maybe? If the site is needing money, it's a great way to be able give the site what they need as so many people do want pet slots.

One pet slot a month sounds like a good number, or even one every two or three months (and this is from a person with 37 pets :P), but as long as Keith sticks to the comment he made back when the additional 5 slots were added, that he could add in another 5 for us to buy in October (I think?), then I'm happy :)

The site needs money shouldn't be a justification for throwing out something that is restricted for a reason.

Considering how limits have been drastically laxed, I think something near 1 to 2 slots seems reasonable.

There may be a limit of how many pets you can have, but there is no reason you can't create stories/characters on Charahub or something.

Realistically though, I don't see this happening. My wallet doesn't really want to see this happen, either. I think one pet a month is far too many and frankly, ridiculous. Do you know how much the pet page and training page lag with 40 pets? Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to access either page ever again if this were the case. Plus, just no. Too many.

However with that said, what I would like to see happen is during the black friday sale, instead of further decreasing the cost of pet slots-- leaving the prices as they are BUT allowing all users to purchase 2 special black friday only pet slots that do not count against your usual pet slot breakdown (they could have their own column, special sale pet slots or something). So people who are pet capped could buy two, and people who still are working on their other pet slots could buy two that'd fall under that sale catagory, and then they could continue buying normal pet slots for the rest of the year.

So that way everyone gets an incentive to purchase slots during the sale, opposed to waiting all year to buy slots or unable to buy slots regardless of it they want to or not c:!

(I also think just normal priced pet slots during black friday and giving everyone the ability to buy one would be fine, too. So 2014 = 1 special slot max, 2015 = 2 special slots max, etc) (so if someone joins in 2020 they could buy 6 special slots if they wanted to) (1 a year from LB + 1 special slot is more than enough slots per year, 3 would be even more awesome, but 2 would be fabulous. 1 a month is just, ridiculous).

There's a reason we don't have unlimited slots already, 8 new slots a month is practically unlimited. And while I could get behind one every 3-4 months or something, any more than that is just a big no imo, especially 8 per month.

(especially if there's a way added in to hide certain pets / images / something from the training and pets page to help the loading when there's just too many pets to load)

This idea made me laugh. ((No offense to OP, or anyone else who likes this idea.)) We already have an option to get a loyalty pet slot from the after you obtain a from an account completing it's second year on subeta, and every year after...It's a long-time member privilege. And pet slots going on sale once a year is good enough for me, too. Gold accounts can already get double the amout of a regular accounts pet slots...and nothing happens to your pets/slots after your gold account is over. Only when you giveaway/abandon a pet does your pet slot decrease.

Dunno why we NEED 8 or ANY free pet slots per month.

I honestly don't like this idea...pet slots are supposed to be rare and you already get I think its 10 with a GA. Their supposed to be hard to obtain hence why buying or getting them once a year takes time. Having even 1 a month would be overkill thats 12 a year then...

If you don't have enough slots for the pets you want, I think it's time for you to make priorities and wait for your loyalty box.

The problem in question is not really a problem. It's more a case of people being indecisive, which has nothing to do with Subeta, or the way the pet slot system works.

I like having lots of pets, but this idea is pure overkill and has clearly not been thought out properly. You're not supposed to be able to own every single pet colour/species combination that you kinda-sorta-maybe like. Pick and choose what you like best, or what fits the character you have in mind.

For the record, just because something would really help with lining Subeta's coffers doesn't make it a great idea. The strain on the servers would probably grind Subeta to a halt and CSC would go up in price like crazy. With 8 slots per month and 12 months in a year, anyone who'd be able to afford it (and crazy enough to spend 160$ on pet slots alone per month, totaling to 1920$ per year, not including GAs) would be able to get 96 slots per year.

Just to prove how much of an overkill it would be to do this (and for the sake of lulz), let me put this into numbers for you.

We have 30 pet colours on the site. 68 different pet species, 72 experiments (scribble experiments included). Assuming that all pets are released in all colours (excluding experiments), that you're only getting these pets because they look pretty and that you only like 1/3 of the species and the colours, you'd have to own over 230 pets to get everything you want.

I do like 's idea, though... I think that'd definitely be interesting since it hits a sweet spot with the slots without going overboard.

That's too much ._. It just seems all too greedy.

I have a massive list of pets I want and recently saved up and got a gold account to increase slots, I still had all 5 extra spaces empty. I don't mind the thought of buying single slots, though.

To me pet slots are meant to be rare and just like anything else that's rare on Subeta, you have to work them. I personally don't have a problem with it, and I'm the kind of person who sucks at saving sP. x:

I think Subeta could occasionally either lower the price of pet slots or do other types of deals like other users have said such as buying one and getting one free.

I like 's idea, but with a tweak: Normal pet slots still get halved, but the "special" black friday slots stay $20.

I like the idea of Black Friday pet slot deals, but monthly pet slots...lolno. As rad as it would be, extra pet slots are meant to be something special. You want extra slots? You gotta be loyal or pay the price. This system has been working well for years. I'd hate for them to just be handing out pet slots like free candy tbh.

Considering the increase in pet slots has increased dramatically over the years, when for the longest time Keith refused more than 10 pet slots (at least he did when I started), we don't need anymore. You get a new one for each loyalty box and that should be enough. It's just about choosing your favorite pets, and as others have said, getting your priorities straightened.

P.S.: What I don't get however is why people say "(Insert random high number of Pets here) is too much." sometimes even spiced with a "We should hard cap it at XYZ!" while everyone applauds the people with a 15k item Wardrobe. I know, I know each pet has a unique name and so on but still it's not really fair in my opinion. If I want to have (and pay with real money for) 100 Pets in the year 2038 then please let me have them just like the Wardrobe super user who will then probably have 678.000 items in their Wardrobe.
