Where do you get your inspiration for them?
I typically already have a character in mind before getting a new pet.
I get inspiration from a lot of places:
*People I Know *Songs *Simple Little Moments *Stuff Like That...
So, how about you?
Well I normally first pick the color and the specie I want them to be. I'm used to read a lot of books, play a lot of games and so on... then I obviously get influencied by it. :3
Phew,
Music I like (classic), Nature documentary's documentary in general physics Being objectively, honest and rational about my real talent's and what's not my talent.
And than I struggle with "darling's" I must kill. Most of the darlings are in my case events in real life or some memories from my self. I will be realistic and I want writhe adult fiction = (my darling I must kill) :( I have got more talent in comedy and fairy tales or something like that. :-
Usually my stories are already in my head, whether they're detailed or vague. One pet that I didn't already have a story in mind for ironically is the only one that's finished (Susurrous).
My stories are based on:
-Stories I made up as a kid, generally inspired by movies/anime (Enliven/Protector) -My love of trees (Forested) -Transcending experiences that are not mine personally, but that humans can have (Susurrous)
I don't have stories for Polymath, Organism, Soliloquist or Kindly (but the latter two I have vague ideas for, and they're based on emotions, based around loneliness and devotion, respectively).
I'm not sure I'll bother with Polymath or Organism. Polymath's potential story will just be based around the name. She would be a girl who's good at many things -- but I find that somewhat boring.
Organism might just be a mascot pet of sorts xP
I usually think of an idea out of the blue and from there it becomes multifaceted and detailed and the artists and profile makers help me develop the story by giving me a visual to go off of as well.
Thanks for your input, guys!
I was worried no one cared about this topic for a sec. xD
Offtopic: I read more than I post. There are some topic's I've never posted, but I read always them. ;)
Ontopic: I trust also on my own reaction when I writhe. It should really do something and hit myself, when I reread my own stories.
Stories I've read, drawings I've seen. Other times I just come up with them on my own, cause I need a character that's got a specific personality/look/position. o3o

Im in the same boat as most other people here it seems!
I try to always have an idea of what I am going to write before searching for the pet; otherwise I end up letting a nice pet just sit and rot.
I try to always strive for the atypical story line; something that isn't what everyone has heard time and time again.

Anymore I usually have the name first. I have a few pets that either don't have characters yet or that had a character but need a new idea and I feel like their names are pretty varied or flexible for me to just pick one from my current hoard. Admittedly, I do think my pets that had a character before a name are generally a lot stronger as characters though.
I tend to be inspired a lot by misconceptions. I'll be watching a preview of something or listening to a conversation in a movie and think "oh, is it going to be about this..?" and if I'm wrong but think that would have been a neat idea anyway, it kind of inspires me. I also have a habit of linking a lot of my characters together with large plots and they sort of create a need for themselves out of that. When I'm brainstorming I'll find that I need a new character for certain roles, so a lot of times I'll take an existing side character and make them more prominent. I have a huge weakness for side characters anyway, haha. They're usually my favorites in books/movies/etc.
