Grant a wish to get a wish?

The first day Peka-boo opened I got an error at the wishing shrub saying that I had to grant a wish to make a wish. The next day, this wasn't an issue and now today it's asking me to grant a wish first again. What's the deal?
Yeah, I ran into the same problem myself! The first two times I easily made a wish and now I have to grant a wish to do it! D<
Of course, granting a wish just had to be very difficult as I can't afford most of those items for one reason or another!

I'm having the same issue. Pretty much the exact same situation as

From what I understand, the intention was that everyone has to grant a wish to make a wish. Those who are able to wish without granting someone else's first are making a wish at the exact moment a space for one clears up; lucky timing, basically. That's not how it's supposed to work.

It's really annoying though since the things wished for cost a blimming fortune and my CSC total and sP Bank now hurttttt
Ah, I got lucky, someone wished for something I already owned. I guess I'll just have to try and be fast at midnight and get in there before it's full
Same problem for me. It's really all over the place? First day I had to grant a wish to get one, second day I got one for free, and then today I had to grant one first again. It's a little confusing. What's supposed to be happening, exactly? Is it meant to be so random?
I think wishes are free (on a daily basis) to the point that there has to be a set number of new wishes to be granted be available as soon as ALL the wishes from the previous day is cleared .

Not a bug, that's how it's supposed to work. You have to grant a wish to wish something. But at midnight the wishes reset, so there are empty slots to trigger the other wishes, and also when someone that already wished grants a wish there's another empty slot, even during the day.
