My suggestion is a simple one: any Pet Spotlight winner or contender, if based on a copyrighted character, must include a disclaimer/credit stating such. If the character does not belong to the pet's owner, the profile must state as such. Same as crediting any other artist/writer who helps contribute to the pet profile.
Example: I have a pet based on R from "Warm Bodies". Thus a disclaimer/credit to R's owner/creator would be required.
Thoughts?

I thought that was already a common sense?
I don't know if it necessarily need to be listed as a rule, but it seems basically that it would go hand in hand with the credit art, profile etc rule.
I thought this was pretty common knowledge too.
The third bullet in rule 4 is: "Proper credit must be given for all graphics, lyrics, or quotations in a story that are not your own work. If you do not credit such things, you could receive a warning for misrepresenting credit or for stolen material."
So, I would assume anyone that reads that would understand that if it's not their own original character, but a fan-made pet then proper credit needs to be given regardless. At least, that's what I take it as.

If it's not original it needs to be credited because it's someone else's work... I'm sure I've forgotten to add that to one or two of my pets >_>;; but it's supposed to be there.
