This started out as a question in the Help forum, but I liked the idea to suggest it.
Basically, my Gold Account lasts for another month and two weeks. However, in two weeks, I go to Japan for a month. I won't have internet access, and it wasn't something I could have planned for in advance. So my gold account will expire literally the day I come back to the US, a month wasted.
My suggestion is to be able to flag your account and freeze it as-is while you're offline for an extended period of time (say, two weeks or longer). It would pause your gold account, which would reactivate upon your return. Someone on my Help board mentioned that this might have been suggested before and denied for potential of abuse, so part of my suggestion is that when you activate the Vacation Flag and confirm that you want to do it, it logs you out. If you log back in, it asks for your pin and tells you that by logging in, you're deactivating your vacation flag and your account / gold account will become active again. Then there could be a cooldown time before you can activate another flag.
I'm bad at explaining things, but essentially, it'd be a form of self-freezing so that gold account time that you paid for does not get wasted during circumstances you can't control, like being kicked out of the house or having to move suddenly.

Though I wouldn't make it like "self-freezing" (though I think you were just making a comparison) since you can't view the profiles of frozen users.
I support this. I like the idea of Not being able to Play while 'flagged' for vacation. I know I had an oops with my GA and its gonna be longer than I will be on line for. It would be nice to have that flag to pause it all for a lil time, until I can come back. Since I agree we did pay for it, somethings are outside of our or anyones control at times, that we need to leave without using it all.
And I do like the idea of a cool down between. Maybe once every 6 months?

I'm not sure what can be done programming wise, but if this were implemented I would like to see some serious restrictions. While its unfortunate for a GA to go to waste, there is potential for abuse here. Ensuring someone can't play without reactivating the GA, for example, is a really good idea. So is a cool down period. Off hand, with those restrictions, I don't see much potential for abuse - though, their might be a way to game the system if you're trying to snag a certain pet name.

I don't really like this idea, even with the cool-down period. If you buy a season pass to a water park, then break your leg/move/whatever, you don't get to pause it or ask for a refund. I don't see why GAs should be different.
I can see how this would be an awesome feature for when things pop up. If it was made as you said that the account was paused for the length of time you're gone and unpauses when you log back in along with a cool down I can't see why this would be shot down.

Back in December: [topic not found]
This seems to get suggested every few months, and it never goes anywhere.

Six months is a bit long for a cool down. I know people who go on multiple vacations within six months.
I really don't support this idea, although I do sympathize with losing GA time while away on vacation.
Adding a cool down restriction is a nice idea, but I think it would cause more issues than it would be worth.
The idea pretty much centers around not being allowed to play while the GA is paused. Clearly, if you don't have internet access, you're not gonna be playing anyway, and if you are, the GA doesn't need frozen.

I do understand your idea, but... you can sell your season pass online for most parks. Not all, but most.

maybe a non-transferable item would've been a better example then, but the point remains the same.
Oh indeed it does , I do see what you mean, more so with a non-transferable item.... like the loyalty boxes.
But I still like the idea over all.

I'D like to see this as a cash shop feature, tbh.
As it is, where I am now has no steady internet access, but at least I can head over to a public library for WiFi. When I'm in Japan, that won't be an option.

Although it does sound like a good idea, I doubt Subeta would go along with that as there is no way for them to prevent abuse if this does happen.

I really like this idea. I lost only a few weeks of GA recently due to a health concern so I get what it feels like to miss out, which is sorta irrelevant but I'm just pointing out that the feeling does suck. I like the "can't play until your vacation time is up" rule a lot.
